Jesper

It is a wonderful mediaplayer ... it is almost as good as its predecessor
I liked the old remote control better.
The player still can't play audio from a WMV videofile

Excellent media player!
After installing the patch that fixes the TMDB connection issue for Home Theater 5 (TMDB Fix v4.3.40 available on the Zidoo forum), the experience is perfect.
I was previously using a Nvidia Shield Pro (2017) with Kodi (stuck on v19 Matrix to keep the Eminence skin). But it didn’t support HDR10+, Blu‑ray menus, BD3D in MVC, or ISO files. And as a 3D fan, having to manually switch my screen to 3D mode was really getting annoying.

With the Zidoo Z9X Pro, it’s almost miraculous:
It plays absolutely every format,
Automatically detects the display modes for the TV or projector,
And even the kids can start a movie without me having to step in.

For movie lovers: audio/video sync at 24p is flawless.
For audiophiles: the Zidoo also handles DSD and SACD ISO files.
I don’t use the SATA port or internal storage, everything is played over the network from a NAS.
Only real complaint: the Ethernet port is limited to 1 Gbit/s. With some very heavy files (>80 GB), there can be a few minor stutters.
Special mention for the backlit remote control, extremely handy in a dark room. On the other hand, the IR isn’t ideal. Fortunately, a V12 IR + Bluetooth version compatible with the Z9X Pro (and 8K models) is available on AliExpress.

Kodi vs HT5:
I was very skeptical at first: after more than 8 years using Kodi, I expected I’d need patience and time to adapt. In the end, the transition to HT5 was much easier than expected.
Zidoo offers features that feel so natural and convenient that I now wonder how I ever did without them. Having dedicated buttons to change the audio track or subtitles directly on the remote is a real plus.

In short: an extremely comprehensive and powerful player, ideal for anyone who wants to enjoy all video and audio formats without any hassle.

nothing to complain about, this device is a must-have for home theater.
do keep in mind that it’s not a Google TV, and when it comes to updates you’ll have to get your hands a bit dirty
