The Sony Bravia Theatre Quad is an innovative audio system that redefines the home theater experience. Comprising four wireless speakers and a control hub, this bundle offers an elegant solution for creating immersive surround sound in your living room. As the successor to the Sony HT-A9, the Bravia Theatre Quad significantly elevates the concept with a more discreet design and optimized audio performance.
What makes this system stand out is its ability to deliver three-dimensional Dolby Atmos and DTS:X sound with only four physical speakers. Thanks to Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology, the Bravia Theatre Quad creates up to 12 virtual phantom speakers, enveloping the listener in a 360-degree sound bubble. This technological feat delivers an audio experience comparable to that of a traditional multi-speaker system, while maintaining a simple, streamlined setup.
The Bravia Theatre Quad distinguishes itself with an elegant, minimalist design. The four speakers feature a compact rectangular shape, making them easy to integrate into any interior. Each speaker comes with a versatile mount that allows for placement on a flat surface or wall mounting. This installation flexibility offers great freedom to optimize speaker placement according to your room layout.
The discreet, compact control hub centralizes connections and audio processing. Its understated design blends seamlessly with the other audiovisual equipment in your living room. The entire system has been engineered to deliver a premium sound experience without compromising your interior’s aesthetics.
At the heart of the Bravia Theatre Quad is cutting-edge audio technology. Each speaker incorporates four drivers: an X-Balanced woofer, a midrange driver, a tweeter, and an up-firing X-Balanced driver. This three-way configuration reproduces a wide sound spectrum with precision and dynamism.
360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology analyzes your room’s acoustics and uses advanced signal processing to create virtual phantom speakers. These virtual speakers complement the four physical speakers to generate an expansive, immersive sound field. The result is a three-dimensional audio experience that puts you at the heart of the action, whether you’re watching a movie, playing a video game, or listening to music.
The Bravia Theatre Quad offers a wide range of connectivity options to suit all modern audiovisual equipment. The control hub includes a HDMI 2.1 input compatible with 4K/120Hz, supporting VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode). This feature is particularly appreciated by gamers, who can enjoy a smooth and responsive gaming experience.
The system is compatible with Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and Sony 360 Reality Audio formats, ensuring faithful reproduction of the most sophisticated soundtracks. For music streaming, the Bravia Theatre Quad supports AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, and Bluetooth 5.2 with SBC, AAC, and LDAC codecs, providing great flexibility for streaming your favorite audio content.
One of the Bravia Theatre Quad’s strengths lies in its ability to adapt to your room’s acoustic environment. The system uses the BRAVIA Connect smartphone app for precise calibration. In just a few minutes, the Bravia Theatre Quad analyzes the acoustic characteristics of your space and automatically adjusts its settings to deliver the best possible sound experience.
Sound Field Optimization technology goes a step further by detecting the listener’s position in the room and optimizing sound accordingly. This ensures optimal listening quality no matter where you sit in the living room.
The Bravia Theatre Quad is designed to work in perfect harmony with Sony BRAVIA TVs. The Acoustic Center Sync feature allows you to use the TV’s speakers as the center channel, improving dialogue clarity and the precise localization of on-screen sound effects.
Integration with BRAVIA TVs goes beyond audio. The system benefits from BRAVIA Sync, which lets you control your entire audiovisual setup with a single remote. In addition, BRAVIA TV users can quickly access Bravia Theatre Quad settings directly from the TV’s quick menu.
Sony has focused on ease of use with the Bravia Theatre Quad. System setup is intuitive, with step-by-step guidance via the BRAVIA Connect app. This app also serves as a comprehensive control interface, allowing you to adjust audio settings, switch sources, or update the system firmware.
The included remote, though minimalist, provides quick access to essential functions. For those seeking more advanced control, the BRAVIA Connect app offers a complete, customizable interface.
The Sony BRAVIA Theater Quad is a version of the Sony BRAVIA Theater Quad without the subwoofer module. You get the same control unit and four discreet speakers to position in your room, but without the subwoofer module. What remains is a home theater system compatible with Atmos, featuring HDMI 2.1 support, 4K passthrough at 120 Hz, and Sony's Acoustic Center Sync technology.
Yes, the system is compatible with all TVs equipped with an HDMI ARC/eARC output. However, certain features such as Acoustic Center Sync are only available with compatible Sony BRAVIA TVs.
This technology uses advanced algorithms to analyze your room’s acoustics and create up to 12 virtual phantom speakers. These virtual speakers complement the four physical speakers to generate an immersive 360-degree sound field.
Absolutely. The Bravia Theatre Quad excels not only with movie soundtracks but also with music listening. DSEE Ultimate technology enhances the quality of compressed audio files, delivering a rich and detailed musical experience.

It has good potential, but if it’s justifies the regular price of €2500 I highly doubt. For me the experience is way too complicated and I am not even technically untalented. For example The sound was always coming from the left of the TV and not from the middle.

perfect sound, at times explosive, good integration with Sony A95L TV, I still need to understand how to make the best use of the software.
