The bottom plate is a high-temperature molded glass slab. The molding process gives the glass greater density and strength than ordinary glass.
Triangle supplies two sets of accessories to adapt the S05 to different floor coverings. The adjustable steel spikes are suitable for soft floors such as carpets or thick rugs: they pierce through the covering to anchor the stand directly to the hard surface underneath. The assembly then becomes a single rigid unit, with decoupling occurring only at the base of the stand. This option is of particular interest to those who want to maximize mechanical rigidity between the speaker and its stand, or who are concerned about accidental tipping (children, pets).
The dimensions of the plate (18 × 29.5 cm) and the 25 kg load capacity allow the majority of bookshelf speakers on the market to be used. The non-slip surface keeps the speaker in place without any fixing system. Only the screw-mounting kit is reserved for the Comète 40th.
Fine sand fills gaps better and provides extra damping thanks to friction between the grains. Metal pellets (Triangle Stand Filler) add more mass for the same volume and present no risk of moisture. Both options work; the choice mainly depends on what you have available or your preference.
On thick carpet or rugs, spikes pierce through the soft covering and stabilize the stand on the hard floor below. On tiles, hardwood, or concrete, rubber feet prevent scratches and provide sufficient grip. If in doubt, try both configurations and keep the one that feels the most stable.
The rear opening easily passes one pair of standard speaker cables. For thick-section cables or multiple pairs, check the available space before installation.

Beautifully finished. The glass base plate looks very chic.
It comes with custom-made plastic bags you can fill with sand. This is recommended, as the stands themselves are not very heavy.
