The T2 Super Phono is equipped with a new 9-inch (230 mm) aluminum tonearm crafted from a single piece. This one-piece design with an integrated headshell eliminates junction points that could generate additional vibrations, unlike removable, screwed, or glued headshells.

The new low-friction bearings ensure exceptional tracking precision, while the adjustable spring-based anti-skating mechanism optimizes performance and extracts the maximum potential from the cartridge. The tonearm also features a nickel-coated counterweight for precise balancing.

This meticulous tonearm design significantly contributes to the overall sound quality of the turntable, enabling faithful extraction of the information engraved in the grooves.

A proven and reliable drive system

The motor and drive system of the T2 Super Phono follow the proven formula of the T1 model, renowned for its efficiency and reliability. The motor spindle drives a belt that wraps around a sub-platter, a system favored by audiophiles as the belt naturally filters out potential motor vibrations.

Unlike standard turntables equipped with unregulated DC motors, the T2 Super Phono features an electronically regulated motor ensuring consistent rotational accuracy. Speed changes between 33 and 45 RPM are electronically controlled via a dedicated switch, offering convenient operation.

The hardened steel spindle with a brass bearing housing on which the sub-platter rests is machined with extreme precision, with a tolerance of just 0.001 mm. This attention to technical detail ensures perfectly stable and precise rotation.

A high-quality built-in phono preamplifier

One of the major strengths of the T2 Super Phono lies in its high-quality two-stage passive MM phono preamplifier. This feature, rare in a turntable at this price point, allows direct connection to any audio system equipped with standard RCA inputs, without the need for an external preamplifier.

Thanks to the additional space available on the printed circuit board (PCB) – space saved compared to the T2W version that includes a WiFi module – Pro-Ject was able to improve the design and layout of the components. The result is a preamplifier with performance comparable to the best standalone phono preamps.

For audiophiles wishing to use a superior external preamplifier or one compatible with MC (moving coil) cartridges, this section can be deactivated via a dedicated switch.

A pre-installed and pre-calibrated Sumiko Rainier cartridge

The T2 Super Phono comes with a high-quality MM (moving magnet) Sumiko Rainier cartridge, pre-installed and pre-calibrated at the factory. This cartridge, with a standalone market value of approximately 175 euros, features a resonance-resistant body and an elliptical diamond stylus.

This choice of cartridge is no coincidence: Sumiko is a Japanese brand renowned for the quality of its cartridges, and the Rainier represents an excellent balance between performance and affordability. Its inclusion on the T2 Super Phono significantly enhances the overall value of this turntable.
