Tonewinner AT-2300 Pro

Seven integrated amplification channels, native Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoding, and a karaoke section with DSP processing: the AT-2300 Pro combines three uses in a single chassis. Tonewinner, a Chinese manufacturer active since 1992, here offers a high-power home cinema amplifier capable of directly driving a 5.1.2 setup while providing scalability towards more ambitious systems via its pre-amplified outputs.

Generous amplification on the front channels

The AT-2300 Pro delivers 230 W RMS into 8 ohms for the three front channels (left, center, right) and 120 W RMS for the remaining four channels. This asymmetric distribution is no accident: it prioritizes the front soundstage, where dialogues and most of the action in a movie soundtrack are concentrated. The surround and height channels, which are less demanding in peak power, have sufficient headroom for most compact speakers.

Two Cirrus Logic CS42528 converters and an Analog Devices ADSP-21573 DSP processor handle signal processing. This combination manages digital-to-analog conversion, response curve adjustment, and spatialization effects. The specified signal-to-noise ratio reaches 95 dB with harmonic distortion below 0.05%, figures consistent with demanding home cinema use.

Audio formats and possible configurations

The unit natively decodes Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, DTS:X, and DTS-HD Master Audio. DTS Virtual:X technology enables three-dimensional reproduction even with stereo programs, which can be useful for music content or TV shows not mixed in multichannel.

With its seven amplified channels, the AT-2300 Pro can directly power a 5.1, 7.1, or 5.1.2 configuration. Its multichannel pre-amplification section manages up to 11 independent channels, which allows 7.1.4 setups when combined with one or more external power amplifiers. The pre-out outputs provide this flexibility without requiring the unit to be replaced if the system evolves.

Video section and HDMI connectivity

Video processing is handled by a Panasonic MN864788 processor, compatible with 4K UHD signals up to 60 Hz in RGB or YUV 4:4:4. HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HLG formats are supported, as well as 3D. The six HDMI inputs and two outputs (one eARC-compatible) comply with the HDMI 2.1 standard with HDCP 2.2 protection.

The eARC output retrieves the multichannel audio track from a TV or projector, simplifying cabling when sources are connected directly to the display. CEC allows standby synchronization and volume control between compatible devices.

Acoustic calibration and equalization

The AT-2300 Pro incorporates the Easy Test EQ system developed by Tonewinner. Using a measurement microphone (not included), the unit analyzes the frequency response of each speaker, the phase, and room-related imbalances, then automatically adjusts levels, delays, and tonal balance for each channel.

Parametric equalization allows fine-tuning of each channel individually: up to 11 bands for the front channels, 5 bands for the surround and height channels, and 5 bands for the subwoofer channel. This option for manual correction complements automatic calibration and is aimed at those who wish to tailor the sound to their preferences or compensate for acoustic quirks that auto-EQ may not have optimally corrected. The interface displays EQ curves in real time and several profiles can be saved.

Karaoke with DSP processing

The AT-2300 Pro includes a complete karaoke section. Tonewinner presents this 5.1.2-channel system as an industry first in audio. Two microphone inputs and six dedicated RCA inputs feed a DSP processor offering vocal effects (echo, reverb), pitch shifting, and an anti-feedback function.

Karaoke settings include the volume of each microphone by channel (center, subwoofer, surround), delay, phase, and band-by-band equalization. Several preset effect modes are available, and three user memories allow saving customized configurations. Switching from cinema mode to karaoke mode is done via the remote control or the mobile app.

Sources and connectivity

On the audio input side, the unit provides three analog RCA connectors, two optical, and two coaxial inputs for digital sources (CD player, console, TV box). Bluetooth enables streaming from a smartphone or tablet. A USB-A port and a micro-SD card reader play locally stored audio files, including high-resolution FLAC, APE, and WAV formats.

The Tonewinner mobile app provides access to streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, or Pandora. It also allows control of the main functions of the amplifier: source selection, volume, settings. For home automation integration, the AT-2300 Pro offers an RS232 input, an infrared input, and a 12V trigger output.
