Stretching a screen with a simple gesture, without a motor or power supply, remains the most direct way to install a large image in a living room or meeting room. This 87-inch 16:9 model relies on this mechanism reduced to its simplest expression: a matte white screen rolled into a metal casing, deployed by pulling on the weight bar. No wiring, no setup, the screen is ready as soon as it is unrolled.

A matte white screen with no color shift

The projection surface is a matte white screen with a gain of 1. This figure deserves an explanation. Gain measures the amount of light a screen reflects compared to a reference surface. At 1, the screen reproduces the projector’s light without amplifying or attenuating it, and diffuses it evenly in all directions. Colors therefore reach the eye exactly as the projector sends them, without tint or cast.

This neutrality has a downside. A matte white screen does not filter ambient light: direct lighting or an uncovered window washes out the image and crushes blacks. It performs at its best in a room where lighting is controlled. Ambient light rejecting screens are better suited to very bright living rooms, but they concentrate the image into a narrower angle and slightly alter colorimetry. The matte white screen makes the opposite choice: color fidelity and a wide viewing angle.

This last point is reflected in the 170° directivity. A highly diffusive surface sends light back over a wide cone, giving every viewer, including those seated at the sides, an image of comparable brightness. No hotspot in the center, no darkening at the ends of the sofa. In a long meeting room or a living room where people sit all over the place, this uniformity matters more than high gain.

A slim, space-saving metal casing

The casing housing the screen is made of white lacquered metal, a finish that blends into a light-colored wall rather than drawing the eye. It measures 208.9 cm long with a square cross-section of 6.5 cm on each side. With the screen rolled up, all that remains is a slim tube, closer to a molding than a piece of furniture.

Three mounting positions are предусмотрены: wall mounting, ceiling mounting, or suspension. The mounting clips speed up installation, with no delicate hardware to line up. The screen measures 194 cm wide by 109.1 cm high; the casing extends beyond it by about fifteen centimeters in total, or roughly seven on each side, leaving some margin for positioning the brackets.

One note for storage: when not installed, the casing must remain horizontal. If stood upright, its mechanism and weight bar may become deformed. This constraint is not burdensome once the screen is mounted, but it matters during transport or temporary storage.

A manual mechanism without jolts

Operation comes down to one gesture: pull the weight bar downward to the desired height. An automatic locking system then holds the screen in place, with no notch to look for and no screw to tighten. Several stop heights are available, enough to adjust the bottom of the image to the furniture placed in front of the screen.

Retraction is just as controlled. Instead of snapping back all at once when the bar is released, the screen rolls up smoothly thanks to a damped return. The motion remains controlled, the screen does not whip, and the mechanism wears out less quickly.

The weight bar measures 203.9 cm wide. Its weight keeps the screen vertically taut and limits the waves and wrinkles that would impair image flatness. It is also the part you grip to unroll the screen.

One limitation is inherent to a manual screen: you must be able to reach the bar. For wall mounting at living-room height, nothing to report. Under a high ceiling, each use will require physical access to the screen, whereas a motorized model would respond to a remote control.

An 87-inch diagonal in 16:9 format

With an 87.63-inch diagonal and an image measuring 194 × 109.1 cm, this model fits well in living rooms and medium-sized meeting rooms. The 16:9 format matches almost all recent films, streaming content, and office presentations, with no cropping or black bars added by default.

The image is bordered by thin 30 mm black edges, and the top of the screen includes a wider 250 mm black drop. This black drop is not wasted fabric: it shifts the image area downward and helps align it at eye level when the casing is mounted high. The black borders also have a well-known effect: they enhance perceived contrast by clearly defining the edges of the image.

This 87-inch model sits in the middle of the EasyPull HD range, between a more compact 77-inch version and a 106-inch version designed for large rooms. All three versions share the same screen material and the same type of casing; only the dimensions vary.
