Projeo Frame ALR UST 100
Overview
A fixed 100-inch screen in a 16:9 format, compatible only with ultra-short-throw projectors. The Frame ALR UST 100 uses an ALR PET screen with a micro-lenticular structure, capable of filtering stray ambient light while efficiently directing the projector’s light toward viewers. Result: a readable projection without needing to plunge the room into darkness, even in a lit living room.
Project in broad daylight without closing everything up
The ALR (Ambient Light Rejection) screen of the Frame ALR UST 100 works on a simple optical principle: its micro-lenticular structure redirects the light emitted by the projector toward the viewing area while absorbing part of the ambient light coming from the ceiling and windows. With a gain of 1.8, this PET screen noticeably boosts perceived brightness compared with a standard white surface. The image retains its color density and black levels in lighting conditions where a conventional screen would produce a washed-out result.
The 120° directivity ensures a comfortable viewing angle: several viewers seated in an arc in front of the screen can enjoy a uniform image. Beyond this angle, brightness gradually decreases, which is the expected behavior of a high-gain screen. This compromise between boosted brightness and diffusion cone is inherent to lenticular technology: a higher gain means a narrower useful angle than a matte white screen, but 120° remains more than sufficient for most living room setups.
A slim, discreet aluminum frame
The casing of the Frame ALR UST 100 is made of black lacquered aluminum alloy, covered with a black velvet finish. This treatment absorbs stray reflections on the edges of the frame, which prevents light halos around the periphery of the image. The borders measure only 10 mm on each side: the screen has a very slim profile, close to what you would expect from a flat-screen TV mounted on the wall.
The usable image area reaches 221.4 × 124.5 cm, for an outer frame size of 223.4 × 126.5 cm and a thickness of only 3 cm. This compactness makes integration into a living room or dedicated room easier without the screen visually dominating the wall when not in use.
Wall installation with screws and clip fastening
The Frame ALR UST 100 mounts to the wall with screws. The screen is stretched over the frame using a quick-clip system: the screen is attached section by section to the frame profiles, ensuring uniform tension without creases or ripples. This assembly does not require specialized tools, but two people are needed to comfortably handle a screen of this size.
The package measures 227 × 29 × 19.5 cm. It is a long and narrow format that requires a bit of planning for transport (check clearance dimensions in stairwells or elevators). It must be stored horizontally.
Why only UST projectors
The micro-lenticular structure of the screen is calibrated to capture light at a shallow projection angle, typical of ultra-short-throw projectors placed on a piece of furniture just below the screen. A conventional projector, installed at the back of the room or on the ceiling, would send its rays at an angle incompatible with the orientation of the micro-lenses: the image would be heavily degraded, or even unusable.
Likewise, if a UST projector is installed above the screen (ceiling mount, projection downward), the screen will not work properly. The projector must absolutely be placed below the screen, aimed upward. This is a major but logical constraint: the entire optical design of the screen is based on this precise geometry.
4K compatibility and living room integration
The screen is compatible with UHD 4K content. Its fine structure does not generate visible moiré at a normal viewing distance, and the projector’s resolution is faithfully reproduced. For a 100-inch diagonal (254 cm), the recommended 4K viewing distance is between 1.5 and 2.5 meters, which corresponds to typical living room setups.
The 16:9 format remains the standard for mainstream digital cinema, series, and sports content. Films in a wider format (2.35:1 or 2.40:1) will be displayed with black bars at the top and bottom, as on a television. The Projeo range also includes a 120-inch model (260 × 146.2 cm, actual diagonal of 117 inches) for rooms offering more viewing distance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Frame ALR UST 100 work with a conventional throw or short-throw projector?
No. The micro-lenticular ALR screen is exclusively compatible with ultra-short-throw projectors (throw ratio below approximately 0.3:1). A standard or short-throw projector will not produce a usable image on this screen.
Can the projector be installed above the screen?
The screen is designed to receive light from below. Projection from above will severely degrade image quality. The projector must be placed on furniture or a shelf located below the screen.
What is the difference between this screen and an ALR screen with a Fresnel structure?
The micro-lenticular screen offers a wider viewing angle (120° here) than Fresnel screens, generally limited to 80-100°. In return, Fresnel screens often achieve higher ambient light rejection rates. The choice depends on the room configuration and the number of viewers.
Do you need a dark room to get good results?
No, that is precisely the main advantage of an ALR screen. The Frame ALR UST 100 is designed to work in a lit environment. Performance remains better with moderate lighting than in direct sunlight on the screen, but it is not necessary to close the shutters to enjoy a high-contrast image.
Is the frame removable for transport or moving house?
The frame consists of aluminum profiles assembled with screws, and the screen attaches with clips. The whole unit can be disassembled and reassembled, but the screen must be handled carefully so as not to damage the micro-lenticular surface.
