Frequently Asked Questions

Does the screen work with a ceiling-mounted projector?

No. The micro-lenticular structure of the screen fabric is optimized for a projector placed below the screen, at TV stand level. Projection from the ceiling reverses the way the micro-reliefs work: the projector’s light would be absorbed instead of being redirected toward viewers, and stray ambient light would no longer be filtered.

What is the difference between a gain of 1.8 and a gain of 0.6 or 0.8?

Gain measures the screen fabric’s ability to concentrate light toward the viewing axis. A gain of 1.8 produces a clearly brighter image when viewed head-on than a screen fabric with a gain of 0.6 or 0.8. In return, brightness drops off more quickly as you move away from the central axis. The choice depends on the room configuration: a living room where viewers are grouped in front of the screen takes full advantage of high gain.

Is the screen fabric sensitive to scratches or physical contact?

PET micro-lenticular screen fabrics are fragile on the surface. It is not recommended to touch the screen fabric, clean it with an abrasive cloth, or let children access it without precautions. Light dusting with a dry microfiber cloth, without pressing, is the recommended maintenance method for this type of surface.

Is the screen suitable for a completely dark room?

Yes, but the high 1.8 gain is especially advantageous in partially lit rooms, where ALR technology filters ambient light. In a dedicated room that is completely dark, a classic matte white screen (gain 1.0) offers more neutral colors and a wider viewing angle. An ALR screen makes the most sense when there is light to reject.

Can this screen be used for presentations (slideshows, charts)?

ALR UST screens with a lenticular structure are optimized for video content (movies, series, video games). Gray surfaces can alter the rendering of pure whites and pastel colors, making data projection (black text on a white background, graphics) less readable than with a standard white screen.

Is the Frame ALR UST 120 available in other sizes?

The Frame ALR UST range includes two models: the 100 (actual diagonal of 100 inches, 221.4 x 124.5 cm image) and the 120 (actual diagonal of 117 inches, 260 x 146.2 cm image). Both share the same screen fabric, the same aluminum frame, and the same 10 mm borders.
