Overview

What the press says

The AWOL Vision Aetherion Pro is a premium ultra-short-throw projector that makes the most sense for a very dark room or a dedicated gaming setup. Its biggest strength is contrast, as it delivers some of the best black levels and image depth we've seen from a projector, and it also has exceptional gaming features. However, it's expensive, not especially bright for a premium UST, and its image accuracy isn't great out of the box, so you'll want to calibrate it to get the most out of it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum image size projected by the Aetherion Pro?

The fixed 0.2:1 throw ratio covers diagonals from 80 to 200 inches, or 203 to 508 cm. The size is adjusted by moving the projector closer to or farther from the wall or screen. Beyond 150 inches, the quality of the screen and the room’s lighting conditions become crucial to preserve contrast and readability.

Is an ALR screen mandatory for this projector?

No, but it is strongly recommended in a non-darkened room. With 2600 ISO lumens, the Aetherion Pro delivers a readable image on a white screen in a room with the curtains drawn. A UST-specific ALR screen (rejecting ambient light coming from the ceiling) delivers significantly better contrast during the day or in the presence of indirect lighting.

What does PixelLock change compared with a conventional UST projector?

PixelLock combines precise optical alignment, mechanical stabilization, and digital processing to limit pixel shift on very large screen sizes. The goal is to maintain uniform sharpness from the center to the edges, where conventional UST projectors often show peripheral blur or pronounced chromatic aberrations beyond 120 inches.

Does 3D mode work with current 3D Blu-rays?

Yes, the Aetherion Pro supports active 3D. It accepts compatible 3D sources via HDMI, including dedicated 3D Blu-ray players. Rainbow effect reduction remains active in this mode, an interesting point because 3D makes this phenomenon more visible. Compatible DLP Link active 3D glasses must be purchased separately.

Which source devices can be connected via HDMI 2.1?

All three HDMI 2.1 ports accept PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles, recent PC graphics cards with 4K high-refresh-rate output, UHD Blu-ray players, compatible ISP boxes, and media servers. HDMI 2.1 carries 4K signals up to 240 Hz, VRR, ALLM, and dynamic HDR formats, including Dolby Vision and Dolby Vision Gaming.
