Overview

The Wireworld Silver Starlight 10 digital coaxial cable marks a significant advancement in high-fidelity audio transmission. With a length of 0.5 meters, it offers a balanced combination of performance and accessibility, meeting the expectations of audiophiles seeking a reliable solution for their digital audio systems.

A Legacy of Sonic Excellence

The Silver Starlight 10 continues the prestigious lineage of Wireworld cables, benefiting from the expertise gained with the high-end Gold Starlight model. This new iteration retains the essential qualities of its predecessor while introducing technical innovations aimed at optimizing value for money.

The Evolution of a Standard

The Silver Starlight 10 represents the tenth generation of Wireworld digital coaxial cables. This iteration incorporates all the technological advancements developed over the years. Compared to its predecessor, the Silver Starlight 8, this new model delivers a noticeable improvement in sound detail reproduction and stereo imaging precision.

Revolutionary Design for Unmatched Clarity

At the heart of the Silver Starlight 10 lies the patented Tri DNA HELIX® technology. This unique architecture enables optimized signal transmission, significantly reducing interference and distortion. The result is a remarkable enhancement in sound clarity, heightened three-dimensional focus, and more pronounced dynamic contrasts.

Premium Materials for Exceptional Performance

Wireworld has selected top-tier materials for the construction of the Silver Starlight 10. The OCC-7N silver-clad copper conductors provide exceptional conductivity, while the COMPOSILEX® 5 insulation ensures optimal protection against external interference. This combination of high-performance materials contributes to the purity of the transmitted signal.

Geometry Designed for Excellence

The cable features three main conductors, each consisting of 20 individually insulated strands. This 24 AWG (0.2 mm²) configuration ensures balanced signal transmission while maintaining the flexibility needed for easy installation. The characteristic 75 Ω impedance is perfectly suited for digital audio applications.

Connectors That Match the Cable’s Quality

The RCA connectors of the Silver Starlight 10 are equally impressive. With OFC copper contacts plated in silver, they ensure a reliable connection and optimal signal transmission. Their robust design guarantees enhanced durability and resistance to repeated handling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Coaxial or optical: which should you choose when connecting two devices that offer both?

In practice, a coaxial connection supports higher sampling rates: many optical inputs are limited to 96 kHz, while coaxial inputs often go up to 192 kHz. An optical connection has the advantage of complete electrical isolation between the two devices. If hum or hiss occurs with a coaxial connection, it is often a sign of a ground loop, and switching to optical eliminates it.

Can this cable carry Dolby Atmos?

No. A coaxial S/PDIF connection is limited to compressed Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1. Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio and full-resolution Dolby Atmos require an HDMI connection, preferably with eARC between the TV and the amplifier.

Can it be used for an AES/EBU digital connection?

No. AES/EBU uses XLR connectors and a 110 Ω impedance, which are incompatible with this 75 Ω cable. Wireworld offers a separate line of 110 Ω balanced digital cables for this purpose.

Is the BNC-to-BNC version suitable for a clock connection?

External clock connections between a master clock and a converter or transport most often use BNC connectors and a 75 Ω impedance. The BNC-to-BNC version meets both requirements, provided that the devices being connected use this clock format.

Would an RCA-BNC adapter work instead of a mixed version?

An adapter adds an extra connection point, and many commercially available adapters do not maintain the 75 Ω impedance. Each impedance discontinuity creates reflections. The RCA-to-BNC and BNC-to-RCA versions avoid this link.

Does the silver plating on the contacts darken over time?

Silver tarnishes when exposed to air, forming a thin dark layer on the surface. Occasional cleaning with a dry cloth or a non-abrasive contact cleaner is sufficient. Metal polishes must not be used, as they damage the plating.
