Oray ONE
Oray ONE, the motorised, modular cinema seat
A single seat to start with, a row of four a few years later: the cinema seat from Oray assembles component by component and grows along with the room. Each seat has its own motor and remote control. Its backrest reclines without moving backwards, allowing the seat to be positioned against the back wall.
Rows that grow one seat at a time
The ONE consists of two components: the seat, 57 cm wide, and the armrest, 16.5 cm wide, which separates two seats and finishes each end of a row. An individual chair measures 90 cm wide, a two-seat row 1.64 m, a three-seat row 2.37 m and a four-seat row 3.11 m. The duo version removes the central armrest: the two seats touch and the bench measures just 1.47 m, for two people to sit side by side. To add a seat to an existing row, all you need is an additional seat and armrest, without replacing anything already installed.
A single motor for the backrest and leg rest
On each seat, one motor moves the backrest and leg rest at the same time. Pressing the remote control takes you from a seated to a reclined position, and each viewer adjusts their seat without disturbing their neighbour. As the two movements are linked, you cannot recline the backrest without raising the leg rest. In return, the mechanism remains simple. The backrest reclines into the chair rather than moving backwards: no space is needed behind it, the ONE can be placed against the back wall, and in a small room the centimetres saved put the viewer that much further from the screen. However, space must be left in front, as the depth increases from 100 cm when closed to 170 cm when reclined. The height is 105 cm, the same dimensions as the brand’s POP model.
Okoumé, solid beech and welded steel
The mechanism is made of welded steel, meaning it is assembled by welding. The seat frame is cut from 30 mm thick okoumé plywood, a lightweight, stable wood. The backrest and supporting frame combine 15 mm okoumé plywood with solid beech crosspieces. The ONE is supplied as a kit: the separate components fit through a doorway or up a staircase much more easily than an already assembled row. A seat weighs 35 kg and an armrest 15 kg; two people are enough to carry them into the room and assemble them on site.
A different foam for each support area
The seat bears most of the weight. It is padded with 43 kg/m³ high-resilience foam: high-resilience foam quickly regains its shape after being compressed, and a high density helps it retain its support over the years. The backrest uses a lighter, 26 kg/m³ high-resilience foam, and the armrests a 24 kg/m³ polyether foam. All the foams carry the CertiPUR label, which regulates their chemical composition and volatile organic compound emissions.
Seven velvet
The upholstery is a knitted polyester velvet weighing 420 g per linear metre, piece-dyed and treated to repel water, moisture and dirt. Its abrasion resistance exceeds 100,000 Martindale cycles. This test rubs the fabric until it wears out, and this result far exceeds the requirements of everyday home use. For pilling, meaning the formation of small bobbles on the surface, it achieves a rating of 4–5 on a scale of 5, almost the highest score.

Frequently asked questions
How many armrests are needed to form a row?
You always need one more armrest than seats: three armrests for two seats, four for three seats, five for four seats. The duo version is the exception, with only two armrests, one on each side of the bench.
Do the two seats in the duo version recline independently?
Yes. Even without a central armrest, each seat retains its own motor and remote control. One person can remain seated while the other reclines.
What equipment comes with each seat?
Each seat comes with its own remote control, a USB-C port for charging a phone or tablet during the screening, and a Pop Corn cup holder.
What size are the armrests?
An armrest measures 64.5 cm high and 100 cm deep, matching the depth of the armchair in the closed position. The armrest therefore runs along the entire length of the seat.
How do I care for Seven velvet?
The fabric can be washed at 30 °C without bleach. Do not iron or tumble dry. Dry cleaning is possible. The water-repellent and stain-resistant treatments help limit stains when a drink is spilled.
Is the fabric sensitive to sunlight?
Lightfastness is measured on a scale of 1 to 8. The Seven scores 4 for light shades and 4-5 for medium and dark shades, indicating adequate resistance to fading. In a room with windows, it is best to avoid leaving a light shade in direct sunlight for hours. The dye resists rubbing well (4 when dry, 4-5 when wet on a scale of 5) and does not transfer onto clothing.
How does the fabric react to fire?
The Seven has passed the cigarette test under British standard BS 5852: a lit cigarette placed on the fabric does not ignite it. It complies with the European REACH regulation on chemicals and contains no dimethyl fumarate, an anti-mould agent banned in furniture.
