Oray ONE 3 seats
Oray ONE 3 seats, row of motorized cinema chairs
A three-seat row for the home cinema room, where everyone can adjust their position without disturbing their neighbors. French projection screen manufacturer Oray brings together three motorized seats and four armrests here, with a mechanism that allows a wall to sit just behind the backrest. The structure combines steel and okoume plywood, the upholstery is a polyester velvet that stands up well to wear, and the set is supplied as a kit.
Three motorized seats that each recline at their own pace
Each seat has its own motor, which reclines the backrest and extends the leg rest in a single movement. A remote control is supplied with each seat: the viewer in the middle can stay upright while their neighbors lie back, and no one needs to lean toward the person next to them to find the button.
The mechanism is a wall-hugger design. As it opens, the backrest reclines within the chair rather than moving backward, so the row can be placed against the room’s rear wall. All the space saved behind is needed in front: the depth increases from 100 cm in the seated position to 170 cm with the leg rest extended, meaning 70 cm must be kept clear between the row and the screen, or between the row and a possible second row.
The supplied accessories include a Pop Corn cup holder and a USB-C port, handy for charging a phone during the screening.
Okoume, solid beech and steel for the structure
The mechanism rests on a welded steel framework, meaning it is made from parts joined by welding rather than bolts, which limits play and squeaking over time. The seat frame is made from 30 mm thick okoume plywood. The backrest frame and supporting chassis use the same wood in a 15 mm thickness, reinforced by a solid beech crosspiece. Okoume is a lightweight wood that produces stable plywood with little tendency to warp. Beech adds rigidity in the areas under the greatest stress.
The foams carry the CertiPUR label, which sets requirements for their composition and emissions. The seat and backrest use high-resilience (HR) foam, a foam that quickly regains its shape and maintains its support over the years. Density varies by area: 43 kg/m³ for the seat, which supports body weight and therefore requires firmer, more durable foam, and a softer 26 kg/m³ for the backrest. The armrests are padded with 24 kg/m³ polyether foam.
A Seven velvet that stands up to popcorn and repeated movie nights
The upholstery is Seven fabric, a knitted velvet with a face made entirely of polyester. The backing blends 90% polyester and 10% cotton. Its weight of 420 g per linear meter makes it a thick fabric with a dense feel.
Its wear resistance is measured using the Martindale test, which rubs the fabric against an abrasive until it wears out: Seven exceeds 100,000 cycles, a high value for upholstery fabric. It achieves a grade of 4-5 in the pilling test (the scale goes up to 5, which indicates no pilling), and its colors resist light with a rating of 4 for light shades and 4-5 for medium and dark shades. A water-repellent, moisture-resistant and stain-resistant treatment causes spilled liquid to bead on the surface long enough to blot it up.
In terms of safety, the fabric passes the cigarette test under the BS 5852 standard, which checks that a cigarette placed on the fabric does not ignite it. It complies with the European REACH regulation on chemicals and contains no dimethyl fumarate, an anti-mold agent banned in the European Union because of its allergenic effects.
Planning the row’s position in the room
The row measures 237 cm wide, 105 cm high and 100 cm deep in the closed position. This width comprises three 57 cm seats and four 16.5 cm armrests, which measure 64.5 cm high and 100 cm deep. The height and depth are the same as those of the brand’s POP model, allowing the two to be combined in the same room with aligned rows.
The row can be extended by adding a seat and an armrest, an extra 74 cm: a four-seat configuration reaches 311 cm.
The chair is supplied as a kit, in separate components. Each seat weighs 35 kg and each armrest 15 kg, making 165 kg for the complete row. The separate components make it easier to get through a stairway or narrow doorway, and the weight of each component remains manageable for two people.

Frequently asked questions
Can we start with three seats and upgrade to four later?
Yes. The row can be expanded by adding an extra seat and armrest. To maintain a uniform look, it is best to order the extension in the same fabric and colour, and check beforehand that the room has the necessary 74 cm of space in width.
What is the difference between a row of 2 seats and the duo version?
The 2-seat row has three armrests, including one between the two seats, and is 164 cm wide. The duo version has only the two outer armrests and combines the two seats into a continuous 147 cm bench. The 3-seat row shown here follows the same principle as the 2-seat row, with an armrest between each seat.
Does the armchair run on mains power?
Yes, each motorized seat must be connected to a power outlet. In a dedicated room, planning for outlets at the base of the row or in the floor avoids cables running across the walkway.
How do I care for Seven fabric?
The fabric care label specifies washing at 30 °C or professional dry cleaning (P symbol). Do not bleach, iron or tumble dry. For everyday care, the stain-resistant treatment allows spills to be quickly blotted up with a damp cloth, without rubbing.
Is this armchair suitable for a room open to the public?
Its fire performance is validated by the BS 5852 cigarette test, which is suitable for domestic use. In France, premises open to the public require specific fire classifications for seating and upholstery: for this type of room, you therefore need to choose a configuration that meets them.
Is assembly complicated?
The row is assembled by joining the seats and armrests, which are delivered separately. It is best to have two people to handle the 35 kg seats and align the components with one another. Assembly should preferably be carried out directly in the room where they will be used.
Are the controls located on the armrests?
Each seat has its own remote control, supplied with the seat. Each viewer can therefore control their own recline angle, regardless of where they sit in the row.
