HumminGuru 7” Adapter for HG01 Cleaning Machine
7-inch singles do not fit directly into the HumminGuru HG01 ultrasonic cleaning machine, which is designed for 12-inch records. This ring holds a 7-inch record in its centre. Singles and EPs can then go through the same bath as albums, with the same contactless cleaning and automatic drying, without changing any of the machine’s settings.
A ring that gives a 7-inch single the dimensions of a 12-inch record
In the HG01, the record sits upright in a slot and rotates slowly through a water bath, driven by rollers. Two 40 kHz ultrasonic transducers generate cavitation in the bath: billions of microbubbles form and then burst against the vinyl surface, dislodging dust and deposits lodged deep in the grooves, without brushes or friction. A 7-inch record is too small for these rollers to reach it. The adapter therefore takes the place of a 12-inch record in the slot and on the drive system, and the 7-inch single rotates with it, held securely in the ring, throughout the cycle.
Four rubber stoppers to hold the record
The record is held by its edge, using four rubber stoppers inserted into notches spaced around the ring. To fit it, first move the two lower stoppers outwards. Then insert the record between the two upper stoppers and slide the lower ones upwards to the edge of the vinyl to secure it. Make sure each stopper faces the right way when sliding it into its notch. The adapter accepts records up to 2 mm thick. Five stoppers are supplied for four notches, leaving one spare if one is lost or damaged.
The HG01’s programmes remain unchanged
Once the ring is in place, the machine works just as it does with a 12-inch record. Automatic mode runs cleaning and drying in sequence in 7 or 10 minutes, depending on whether the record simply needs a quick clean before listening or a longer cleaning session. Cleaning-only and drying-only cycles (5 or 10 minutes) remain available. Drying is handled by two fans blowing onto both sides, without removing the record from the adapter. The record is removed from the ring once the cycle is complete and the vinyl is dry.

Frequently asked questions
Does the adapter work with the HumminGuru NOVA?
No, it is only for the HG01. The NOVA (HG05) directly accepts 17 and 25 cm records thanks to its integrated mechanism and the supplied tray supports, without a ring to fit around the record.
Some HG01 units come with adapters, so what is this one sold separately used for?
The HG01 is available in a 30 cm-only version and a version supplied with 17 and 25 cm adapters. This adapter, sold separately, fits the former, replaces a lost or damaged ring, or serves as a second ring: you can prepare the next 45 rpm record while the machine cleans the previous one.
Can a 25 cm disc be attached to it?
No. 25 cm records require the brand’s 10” adapter, which uses the same stop system for this diameter.
Do 45 rpm records with a large center hole, like those used in jukeboxes, pose a problem?
No. The ring holds the record by its edge, not by the center hole. A large-hole 45 rpm record, with or without an adapter, fits just like a record with a standard hole.
How should I store the adapter between cleanings?
Flat, away from sunlight, which damages the ring and stops, and without bending it or placing any weight on it. The stops are small parts: keep them out of reach of children under 8, preferably in a bag with the instructions.
Do you need a special liquid for 45 rpm records?
No, the bath is the same as for 30 cm records: distilled water, to which you can add HumminGuru cleaning solution (The Small Bottle), dosed according to the machine’s instructions. The record size does not affect the dosage, which depends on the tank volume.
