25 cm records have a special place in a record collection. They include the first LPs from the 1950s, much of the French chanson of that era, maxi-singles and reissues that labels still release in this format. The HumminGuru HG01 ultrasonic cleaner accepts 30 cm records as standard. This adapter also allows it to handle 25 cm records: it holds the record in a black ring that slots into the machine in place of a 30 cm record.
A ring that holds the record by its edge
The adapter is a ring with four slots that hold rubber stops. The top two stops remain fixed once in place. The bottom two slide: first move them out towards the outer edge of the ring, insert the record between the upper stops, then bring the lower stops back against the edge to secure it. The stops must be fitted in the orientation shown in the instructions. The record is held at just four points along its edge, leaving both sides fully exposed to the bath and drying airflow.
The HG01 principle applied to 25 cm records
The HG01 rotates the record on rollers while it sits in a tank where 40 kHz ultrasound dislodges dust and deposits trapped at the bottom of the grooves. Fan drying completes the cycle. With the adapter, the ring rests on the rollers and rotates the 25 cm record with it. The machine’s programmes remain unchanged, as do HumminGuru’s instructions: distilled water with the brand’s cleaning fluid, The Small Bottle.
Supported thickness and handling precautions
The adapter accepts records measuring 25.4 cm in diameter and up to 2 mm thick, which covers standard vinyl pressings in this format. HumminGuru recommends inserting the adapter into the machine gently with both hands, and never bending or dropping it. Between sessions, store it away from sunlight, which can warp it. The box contains five rubber stops for the four slots. These are small parts that must be kept out of reach of children under 8.
Three record sizes, two adapters
The HG01 handles 30 cm records as they are. For 25 cm records, this 10” adapter is required. 17 cm 45 rpm records have their own 7” adapter, which is fitted in exactly the same way, with the same fixed stops at the top and sliding stops at the bottom. Once you have mastered the technique with one, it applies to the other.

Frequently asked questions
Does the adapter work with HumminGuru machines other than the HG01?
HumminGuru states that it is compatible only with the HG01 ultrasonic cleaner. Its dimensions match the rollers and tank of this model.
Does my HG01 already come with this adapter?
It depends on the version purchased. The HG01 alone comes without an adapter. The HG01+A version includes the 7” and 10” adapters. If your box contained two black rings in addition to the machine, you already have it.
How do I remove the disc at the end of the cycle?
Simply reverse the installation process: slide the two lower stops towards the outer edge of the ring, then remove the disc by holding it by the edge, without touching the surfaces that have just been cleaned.
How long does it take to clean a 25 cm record?
The same amount of time as for a 30 cm record. In automatic mode, the HG01 offers two durations, 7 or 10 minutes, including drying. The shorter cycle is enough to freshen up a record before listening. The longer cycle is better suited to dirty records found at flea markets. There are also wash-only and dry-only modes.
Are both sides of the record cleaned at the same time?
Yes. The record sits in the tank and rotates throughout the cycle, so the ultrasonic waves act on both sides at once. There is no need to flip it over.
Can it accommodate a 25 cm 78 rpm record?
The adapter and the HG01 are designed for vinyl records. 78 rpm records of this diameter are generally made of shellac, a more brittle material that needs to be cleaned separately, by hand. It is best to keep them away from the machine.
