Overview
A successful home cinema room depends as much on the screen as on the projector. Projected onto a painted wall or onto a screen that ripples, the image loses sharpness and contrast, whatever equipment is placed opposite it. The Projeo Frame HD 110 addresses this issue: a flat PVC screen stretched over a rigid frame, in 16:9 and 108 inches diagonal, for a room dedicated to projection.
A white screen with neutral gain
The projection surface is a white PVC screen. This choice is geared toward color fidelity rather than fighting ambient light. Its gain of 1.1 places it just above reference white, set at 1.0. In practice, it reflects a little more light than a neutral surface, without the drawbacks of high-gain screens: no bright hotspot in the center, no pronounced drop in brightness at the edges.
The 170° directivity corresponds to the angle within which the image retains its brightness and uniformity. Such a wide value allows flexibility in seating placement, including across several rows or in side seats, without visible degradation of colors seen from an angle. This moderate gain pairs well with long-throw projectors, whose beam covers the screen fairly evenly from the back of the room.
A white screen of this type performs best in a room where light is controlled, with dark walls and controlled lighting. It is not designed to neutralize stray light, unlike screens intended for bright living rooms.
The black frame and perceived contrast
The frame is 100 mm wide and is built on an aluminum alloy structure. This rigidity serves a direct function: keeping the screen perfectly stretched and flat, without the slightest ripple that could distort the geometry of the projected image.
The frame finish has a concrete optical effect. The profile is lacquered black, then covered with black velvet on its visible face. This velvet absorbs light instead of reflecting it. A glossy frame would reflect part of the projector beam and create a light outline around the image; the velvet makes this effect disappear. The border blends into the darkness of the room and clearly defines the image. This sharp boundary between the black of the frame and the dark areas of the image strengthens the contrast perceived by the eye, even if the projector’s actual measured contrast remains unchanged.
Wall mounting and screen tension
The screen mounts to the wall with a screw system. Once installed, it no longer moves: no motor, no roll-up mechanism, so nothing that can go out of adjustment over time or crease the screen. The trade-off is measured in wall surface. A fixed frame permanently requires wall space. For the Frame HD 110, you should allow about 260 cm in width and 155 cm in height, frame included.
The screen is mounted onto the frame using a clip system that tensions it progressively. This even tension, combined with the rigidity of the profile, ensures the desired flatness. Frame assembly and screen installation come before wall mounting.
One logistical detail matters at the time of delivery: the package measures 268 cm in length, and Projeo requires flat storage. Kept upright for too long before assembly, a screen of this size can become marked.
The 110 in the Frame HD range
Frame HD includes four sizes built on the same principle: the 90, 110, 127 and 135 models, with the numbers indicating the diagonal in inches. The screen, gain, directivity and frame profile remain identical from one size to another. Only the image dimensions change.
The 110 displays a useful image area of 240 × 135 cm, or 108 inches diagonal. This is a format that requires viewing distance. For an image width of 2.40 m, a distance of 3 to 4.50 meters between the screen and the seats remains a reasonable guideline: far enough for the image structure to remain invisible, close enough for the screen to occupy a large part of the field of view. The choice between the 110 and the other sizes depends mainly on the depth of the room and the position of the seats.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Frame HD 110 compatible with an ultra-short-throw (UST) projector?
No. Its screen and geometry are designed for long-throw projectors, installed at a distance from the screen or on the ceiling. An ultra-short-throw model projects its image at a very shallow angle from the bottom of the screen. On a standard white surface, this configuration highlights the slightest flatness defect and causes brightness inconsistencies. UST projectors require a specific screen, with a structured surface designed to handle this grazing light.
Are dark walls needed around the screen?
It is not mandatory, but it is recommended. The white PVC screen reflects the light it receives, including light bouncing off light-colored walls or a light ceiling. In a room with dark surfaces and controlled lighting, blacks remain deep and contrast holds up. The black velvet-covered frame limits reflections around the image, but it does not compensate for a very bright environment. For a dedicated room, dark walls and ceiling noticeably improve the result.
Can the screen be moved after it has been installed?
The screen is fixed to the wall with screws. Moving it means taking it down, then drilling new anchor points in the chosen location. The operation remains possible, but it leaves holes in the original wall and requires rechecking alignment and level. A fixed frame is a long-term installation: it is better to decide on its location before the first hole is drilled, taking into account eye height when seated.
Can the screen format be changed for 2.35:1 movies?
No. The Frame HD 110 has a rigid frame and a fixed 16:9 screen. A movie in 2.35:1 format is displayed with black bars at the top and bottom of the image, handled by the projector. The projection surface cannot be reconfigured during use. For a different diagonal, the choice of model in the range, from 90 to 135, is made at the time of purchase.
