Crafted for perfection, the HD 800 and HD 800 S are the result of high-precision manufacturing in Germany, using only the finest materials and components. The transducer is encased in stainless steel, while the headband and headphone mountings utilize the latest materials developed in the aerospace industry for high strength and minimal weight.

The new HD 800 S offers even more high-precision connectivity options and now comes with two connection cables, one with a 6.35 mm jack connector and a balanced XLR 4 cable for even better sound quality from sources with balanced outputs like Sennheiser’s HDVD 800 headphone amplifier.

HD 800 S Absorber Technology The sound reproduction of the HD 800 S is enhanced by the addition of innovative absorber technology that originated with Sennheiser’s IE 800 - an advancement that preserves the audibility of very high frequency sounds by eliminating a phenomenon known as the “masking effect”, which prevents the human ear from hearing certain sound frequencies when higher volume, lower frequencies are produced at the same time. By absorbing the resonance energy, Sennheiser’s patented absorber technology prevents unwanted peaks and allows all frequency components of the music to remain audible, even the finest nuances. This innovation was a key element in making the IE 800 the world’s best in-ear headphones, and in the HD 800 S, it helps bring even more purity and precision.

Such improvements build on the formidable performance of the classic 56 mm sound transducer - the largest ever used in dynamic headphones. The unique design of the ear cups channels sound waves into the ear at a slight angle to create a remarkably natural spatial listening experience.

Despite the resemblance, the internal performance enhancement is marked by a distinctive new look, with the silver finish of the classic 2009 HD 800 giving way to a classy matte black on the HD 800 S.
