Tonewinner SW-D6000: 15-inch powered subwoofer
A 38 cm driver, 800 watts in class D, an advertised extension down to 15 Hz, and a full DSP accessible from your smartphone: the SW-D6000 concentrates Tonewinner’s expertise in low frequencies. This bass-reflex subwoofer draws on three decades of experience from the Chinese manufacturer, which long supplied components to brands such as Advance Paris, Emotiva, and Nuforce before marketing its own products.
A large cone for very low frequencies
The heart of the SW-D6000 is its 38 cm (15-inch) front-firing driver. The rigid cone limits deformation during large excursions, while the dual magnet and 75 mm voice coil ensure precise control of cone movement. This design allows the subwoofer to go down to 15 Hz, a frequency that few models reach without significant distortion.
The class D amplification delivers 800 watts RMS with peaks above 3,500 watts. This power reserve guarantees a crisp response to transients, whether it’s for explosions in a film soundtrack or the bass lines of an electronic music track. The high cutoff frequency, adjustable up to 240 Hz, provides headroom to adapt integration with the main system.
Three ports and a sealed mode
The front panel houses three large bass-reflex ports. This configuration increases efficiency in the low end and allows a substantial sound pressure level without excessively taxing the amplifier. Foam plugs are supplied to block these ports and switch to sealed mode, which is better suited to music listening where precision is often preferred over sheer impact. Switching between the two modes is also done from the touchscreen or the mobile app.
The reinforced MDF cabinet weighs 43 kg, which attests to the sturdiness of the construction. Its dimensions (480 × 598 × 628 mm) make it a sizeable subwoofer that requires dedicated space. The black finish with removable grille is understated and fits easily into most environments.
A full DSP to fine-tune the sound
The rear-mounted LCD touchscreen provides access to all parameters: gain, phase (0° or 180°), crossover frequency, and listening mode. Four presets are available (deep, normal, strong, user) to quickly adapt the subwoofer to different content. The 7-band parametric equalizer lets you go further by correcting room-specific resonance modes.
The Tonewinner app (iOS and Android) offers the same functions via Bluetooth. Adjusting settings from your listening position makes real-world fine-tuning easier, without back-and-forth between the subwoofer and the listening spot. The app also allows updating the DSP firmware.
Connectivity and integration
The rear panel provides an LFE input on RCA and another on balanced XLR, ensuring compatibility with home-cinema amplifiers as well as high-end preamplifiers equipped with balanced outputs. A stereo RCA line input and an LFE output allow daisy-chaining a second subwoofer for large rooms or multi-subwoofer setups.
The auto-switching power supply accepts voltages from 110 to 230 volts, making the SW-D6000 usable anywhere in the world without an adapter. Auto standby switches off the amplifier after a few minutes without signal.
Use in home cinema and hi-fi
In home cinema, the SW-D6000 delivers the sound pressure required for modern soundtracks, where infrabass effects are omnipresent. Its ability to go below 20 Hz makes you feel explosions, engine rumble, or the vibrations of a spaceship rather than just hearing them. The power reserve prevents compression during the most demanding passages.
In stereo hi-fi, the sealed mode and parametric EQ allow the subwoofer to be integrated more subtly, complementing floorstanding or bookshelf speakers whose low-end extension is limited. The crossover adjustable up to 240 Hz makes it possible to handle a wide portion of the spectrum if the main speakers call for it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the SW-D6000 work with a stereo amplifier without a dedicated subwoofer output?
Yes. The stereo RCA line input allows you to connect the subwoofer to a pre-out or a record output. The internal crossover then filters the signal to keep only the low frequencies. This setup works, but integration will be more precise with a dedicated LFE output and filtering handled by the main amplifier.
Are settings made via the app preserved after a power outage?
Yes. The parameters are stored in the DSP memory. The subwoofer restarts with the last saved settings.
Can two SW-D6000 units be used together?
The LFE output allows daisy-chaining a second subwoofer. Both units then receive the same signal. The mobile app only manages one subwoofer at a time, but the settings can be identical or different depending on the acoustics of each location.
What is the advantage of sealed mode compared to bass-reflex mode?
Bass-reflex mode (ports open) maximizes efficiency and impact in the deep bass. Sealed mode (ports blocked) offers a more linear response and better control, often preferred for music listening where precision takes precedence over sheer volume.
Is the mobile app available in English?
The Tonewinner app is available in several languages. The interface is fairly visual and the parameters (gain, phase, EQ) are identifiable even without a full translation.
