WiiM Bar
Overview
A specialist in network players and connected amplifiers, WiiM is taking on the soundbar for the first time. The WiiM Bar keeps the brand’s streaming DNA and adds Dolby Atmos decoding in 3.0.2, a touchscreen placed on the front, and the ability to expand into a wireless 5.1.2 home theater system. The challenge: bringing music and cinema together in one compact unit, without multiplying devices under the TV.
Sound depth from above
Behind its front panel, the WiiM Bar lines up eight speakers and four passive radiators. Three woofers-midrange drivers and three tweeters are distributed across the front left, center, and right channels: they handle most of what you hear, dialogue, instruments, and effects, with separate highs and lows on each channel for better clarity. Two additional speakers are aimed at the ceiling. They are the ones that create the height channels of the 3.0.2 format.
The distinction matters. Many soundbars simulate vertical depth through digital processing, whereas the WiiM Bar actually projects sounds placed overhead in a Dolby Atmos or DTS:X track. The sensation of sounds coming from above is therefore more convincing. Total power reaches 135 W, and the four passive radiators reinforce the bass without a dedicated subwoofer.
RoomFit calibration and voice clarity
During setup, the RoomFit function measures the room using the phone’s microphone, via the WiiM Home app, then adjusts playback according to the soundbar’s position and the layout of the living room. No manual trial-and-error settings.
Two modes complete everyday listening. Clear Voice uses artificial intelligence processing to separate dialogue from the rest of the soundtrack, useful in busy scenes where voices get lost. Night mode narrows the volume range between quiet passages and sound peaks, making it possible to watch a movie late without waking the house while keeping dialogue intelligible.
A round touchscreen on the front
This is the choice that most sets the WiiM Bar apart from typical soundbars. A 2.1-inch (5.3 cm) round color touchscreen, protected by glass, sits on the front of the unit rather than on top as is often the case. It shows the current album cover, the equalizer, the clock, or playback controls, all without taking out your phone. Touch controls located on the upper part activate when the hand approaches.
This design choice has a downside: the screen adds a light source near the TV, which not everyone will appreciate in a darkened room. It remains possible to switch it to a discreet clock display in standby.
The streaming section inherited from WiiM players
WiiM has not forgotten its original business. The soundbar integrates Chromecast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, and Amazon Music Cast, supports Roon and DLNA, and provides access to more than twenty music services from the WiiM Home app, including Deezer, YouTube Music, and TuneIn. Playback goes up to 192 kHz / 24-bit, meaning high resolution on files and services that offer it.
The WiiM Bar also joins the brand’s in-house multiroom ecosystem: the same source can be played in several rooms alongside other WiiM devices. As for control, four options coexist: the touchscreen, the included Voice Remote 2 Lite, the app, and voice, with compatibility for Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri.
Connectivity and HDMI limitation
Connected to the TV via HDMI eARC, the WiiM Bar retrieves the TV sound and is controlled with the television’s remote. Also included are an optical input, an analog line input, a USB Audio port configurable as input or output, an Ethernet RJ45 port, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3.
One point deserves attention before purchase: the soundbar makes do with a single HDMI eARC port, with no additional HDMI input for directly connecting a console or player. Sources therefore pass through the TV. For most setups this has no consequence, but configurations with multiple video devices will find it a real limitation.
Expanding to a wireless 5.1.2 system
Sold on its own, the WiiM Bar operates in 3.0.2. Still, it is expandable: by pairing it wirelessly with WiiM Sound speakers as surrounds and a compatible WiiM subwoofer, it becomes a full 5.1.2 system, without running speaker cables across the living room. The bar then takes on the role of the center and front channels.
On the installation side, the format remains compact, 1060 mm wide and 74 mm high (70 mm without the stand) and 5 kg on the scale, with a glossy black finish. It slips under a TV or onto a cabinet, and supports wall mounting.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the WiiM Bar decode Dolby Atmos without additional speakers?
Yes. Its two upward-firing speakers provide the height channels right out of the box, in 3.0.2. The surround speakers and the subwoofer are only needed afterward to switch to 5.1.2.
Can you play music in multiple rooms?
Yes, via WiiM multiroom. Connected to other WiiM devices on the same network, the soundbar plays the same music from room to room, or different streams depending on the zones.
What is the maximum audio streaming resolution?
Network playback goes up to 192 kHz / 24-bit, allowing you to make the most of high-resolution files and subscriptions. MP3, AAC, ALAC, APE, FLAC, WAV, WMA and OGG formats are supported.
Which Bluetooth codecs are supported?
Bluetooth 5.3 supports the SBC and AAC codecs. For the best playback quality, it’s better to use the network (Wi‑Fi or Ethernet) and the built-in streaming protocols.
What is the configurable USB Audio port used for?
It can operate as either an input or an output depending on the setting selected in the app. The port can therefore adapt to a source or another audio component rather than being fixed to a single use.
Does the bar support wall mounting?
Yes. It can be wall-mounted and, at 70 mm high without its stand, also fits under a television placed on a cabinet.
Do you need the WiiM Home app to use it?
The iOS and Android app is used for RoomFit calibration, equalizer settings, and managing music services. For simple home theater use, the touchscreen, the included remote control, and the TV remote via HDMI eARC are sufficient for everyday use.
