Naim Audio UnitiServe

The UnitiServe is a music server capable of ripping CDs and the heart of the UnitiSystem. With a built-in terabyte hard drive and access to virtually unlimited network storage, a single UnitiServe can easily store your entire music library and, thanks to its Naim UPnP server software, make it simultaneously available to multiple UPnP-compatible players throughout the home – players like the SuperUniti, NaimUniti 2, UnitiLite or UnitiQute 2.

But audio storage and streaming are just one aspect of the UnitiServe. By accessing an online database, it will automatically catalog all ripped discs and make them easily accessible through selection by title, artist, genre, performer and composer – you can even create and store your own playlists. Ripping a CD with the UnitiServe requires nothing more complicated than inserting the CD into the loading slot and waiting a few minutes until it ejects. The UnitiServe’s internal hard drive also includes an additional folder for your downloads and rips for other devices, giving you dedicated access to all your music.

The UnitiServe can play and stream high-resolution audio files and it automatically scans the network – including your iTunes library – for shared files in WAV, AIFF, FLAC, Apple Lossless, Ogg Vorbis, AAC, WMA and MP3 formats, making them available for local playback or UPnP streaming.

With access to tens of thousands of internet radio stations and a digital output for local connection to an external digital-to-analog converter, or to an amplifier equipped with a digital input, the UnitiServe acts not only as the hub of a multi-room UPnP streaming UnitiSystem installation, but also as an additional digital source adding a hard drive player component to a traditional hi-fi system.

The UnitiServe’s digital technology and ripping engine are based on the Naim HDX, the world’s first audiophile-grade, upgradeable hard drive player, their audio performance far surpassing that of solutions based on general-purpose computer servers. The music produced is so real, you can almost reach out and touch it, throughout the house.
