Overview

Since the arrival of high-fidelity players on the market, audiophiles have dreamed of owning exact copies of Studio Master recordings. The best systems cannot reproduce what was lost during the recording process to CD or LP formats. Unless you have the chance to visit a recording studio, you will never be able to hear the most precise details of the recording: the Studio Master. This is now possible with the popularization of HD downloads, which is great news for all music lovers. However, computers are not well-suited for audio performance. Today, with the NAD Masters Digital Music Suite range, you can download, listen to, upload, and store these precious HD recordings.

High-performance software

The M50.2 is characterized by its high-performance software. This software is upgradeable, with regular updates offered to integrate new audio codecs or new “cloud” services, allowing the M50.2 to maintain its cutting-edge functionality. Although the focus is primarily on downloading and listening to the 24/192 Studio Master format, the software plans to include Internet Radio as well as premium “cloud” services.

High-performance connections

We have included the latest generation of high-performance, low-power ARM processors. Its computing power is greater than that of a recent PC, it operates without heating up, and does not require noisy fans. Its complete digital connectivity, including SPDIF, USB, and HDMI, is uncommon for this type of stereo audio device. We have integrated HDMI connectivity for its secure encrypted format supporting 24/192 HD Audio in an original PCM I2S format; however, it is not a video output.

Transfer, management, and playback

The M50.2’s CD transport can read or transfer tracks from the built-in 4TB hard drive (used for digital music storage) using lossless FLAC encoding. The extraction is completely automatic, and at the same time, the BlueOS application for music management brings the artist’s information and cover art to your internet-connected tablets or smartphones. And all of this without a computer! Everything is functional and available for instant playback. You can browse your music collection, create playlists, or sort by categories.
