In designing an amplifier, it all starts with the power supply. The XPA-DR series features a custom version of our high-current switch mode power supply (SMPS) - a lightweight, powerful, and intelligent design capable of delivering over 3 kW of continuous power with absolute reliability and extremely high efficiency. Like the best transformer-based power supplies, our SMPS provides continuous power to allow the amplifier modules to reach their full performance potential, and sufficient dynamic power to ensure musical peaks are never compressed or limited. However, compared to traditional transformer-based designs, our SMPS is lighter and more efficient; it is also fully regulated, ensuring optimal performance under any conditions.

Each XPA-DR Differential Reference monoblock power amplifier consists of a robust chassis housing a massively oversized, fully regulated 3 kW SMPS power supply and up to three Differential Reference amplifier modules. The front panel display and protection system are designed to work with the maximum number of channels, so no updates are required as the XPA-DR evolves; on the rear panel, slots not occupied by amplifier modules are covered with protective panels.
