The front, top, and side panels of the AP-505 are made of high-quality aluminum alloy and securely attached to a robust internal steel chassis. This design minimizes the transmission of mechanical vibrations, ensuring optimal operation of each internal component. Furthermore, with its practical A4-sized dimensions, this compact amplifier easily integrates into modern interiors, unlike conventional bi-amplifier/BTL amplifiers, which are often bulky and voluminous.
The AP-505 adopts a fully symmetrical circuit design, from the input section to the output stage, to ensure maximum purity of the audio signal. This approach minimizes distortion and achieves an exceptional signal-to-noise ratio. The TEAC AP-505 amplifier incorporates high-quality MUSES8820E dual op-amps for the XLR and RCA inputs. The power supply section of the input stage features independent rectifier circuits for the left and right channels, coupled with four large-capacity 4700 μF capacitors per channel (8 in total). This configuration ensures clear separation of the sound spectrum between channels and helps preserve signal integrity. Additionally, the elimination of coupling capacitors minimizes the loss of audio information during signal transmission.
The AP-505 is equipped with a high-capacity toroidal transformer, paired with Schottky barrier diodes in the rectifier circuit. Unlike conventional diodes, Schottky barrier diodes reduce noise in the rectifier circuit, ensuring a cleaner power supply and increased current stability. This configuration enables accurate and distortion-free sound reproduction, preserving the most subtle details of your favorite tracks.
Recognizing the importance of silent operation, TEAC designed the AP-505 with a passive cooling system. This eliminates the need for any cooling fans, thus avoiding extraneous noise that could compromise the listening experience. The three feet feature an innovative system that effectively isolates the unit.
It delivers sound that is very faithful to the source you connect it to.
The VU meters are pleasant to look at, but the key aspects are the build quality and sound reproduction.
