Luphonic H2: a high-end turntable with an innovative design

The Luphonic H2 is a high-end turntable designed and manufactured in Germany. Its sandwich chassis uses a “Solid Surface” composite material made of acrylic and aluminum hydroxide for the upper and lower layers, separated by an intermediate layer of damping foam. This three-layer construction optimizes vibration damping.

The platter is also made of Solid Surface. Its surface is obtained through a complex process involving 7 passes of sanding and polishing. The result is a mirror finish with a very smooth touch and perfect flatness.

The drive is belt-driven via a sub-platter. The low-vibration synchronous motor is powered by precise sinusoidal and cosinusoidal waves generated by a microcontroller. Before delivery, the motor control is individually adapted to each motor for optimal operation. The motor is mechanically decoupled from the chassis to avoid any transmission of parasitic vibrations.

A custom-made tonearm with precise adjustments

The Luphonic H2 is equipped with the Luphonic K2 tonearm, an in-house creation specially developed to integrate optimally with the H1 and H2 turntables.

Its gimbal design uses miniature precision ball bearings without play. The low-resonance carbon tube contributes to excellent sonic performance. The polyamide headshell loaded with tiny glass beads offers high rigidity for reduced weight, while preventing the propagation of resonances.

The K2 arm allows convenient adjustment of VTA (vertical tracking angle), VTF (vertical tracking force), azimuth, and anti-skating. The stainless steel counterweight can balance most cartridges on the market weighing between 5 and 14 grams. The arm is also available separately in 9.5 and 12 inch lengths.

Intuitive and playful control via magnetic “puck”

The originality of the H2 lies in its contactless control system via a “puck”, a magnetic token without buttons or switches. Simply place it on the turntable to start playback at 33 rpm. By flipping it over, the speed changes to 45 rpm. The selected speed is displayed in glowing red numbers integrated into the chassis.

To stop playback, simply move the puck slightly or remove it. This system avoids wear on the controls and prevents unauthorized use by children, for example. Additional pucks are available as an option.
