Compact Speaker Cabasse Alcyone 3

The Alcyone 3 speakers from the French brand Cabasse stand out with their original and compact spherical shape. Their sleek and modern design is available in matte white or black finishes. The sphere is made of injected aluminum alloy, offering both lightness and rigidity, which limits unwanted vibrations. Inside, a damping treatment reduces resonances.

Cutting-edge technology inherited from high-end speakers

Cabasse has incorporated its expertise from its high-end speaker ranges into the Alcyone 3. Notably, it features the SCS (Spatially Coherent Source) technology, which aims for precise and uniform sound reproduction in all directions.

This technology is based on the use of a single 10 cm wide-band coaxial speaker. Specially developed for the Alcyone 3, this speaker consists of a high Young’s modulus cellulose fiber membrane and a flexible peripheral suspension allowing for significant excursions.

The speaker thus covers a very wide frequency range, from 160 Hz to 20 kHz, avoiding the use of a complex filter and the resulting phase shifts. The result is coherent and precise sound, with excellent stereo imaging regardless of the listeners’ position.

Astonishing acoustic performance for their size

Despite their small volume, the Alcyone 3 speakers deliver ample and dynamic sound. With a sensitivity of 87 dB/W/m and a nominal power of 50 W, they perfectly match mid-range home theater amplifiers.

The frequency response extends from 160 Hz to 20 kHz at +/- 3 dB. The highs are detailed and crystalline, without being aggressive. The mids are natural, and the voice remains intelligible. Although the bass is logically limited given the speaker’s diameter, it remains present and sufficiently deep for small speakers.

For bass enthusiasts, Cabasse suggests pairing the Alcyone 3 with the Lipari 21 subwoofer. Equipped with a 21 cm speaker and a 200 W amplifier, it is the ideal complement to extend the bass response down to 33 Hz.

Easy integration with multiple placement options

The spherical shape of the Alcyone 3 speakers allows for numerous positioning possibilities. They can simply be placed on a piece of furniture thanks to their magnetic base, which ensures perfect stability while allowing precise orientation of the speakers towards the listening area.

They can also be wall-mounted with the provided bracket. Discreet and ingenious, it firmly holds the speaker while offering a very practical orientation adjustment to optimize spatialization, whether for the front channels or the surround channels of a home theater system.

This system will easily find its place in medium-sized rooms, up to 20 m². Beyond that, larger speakers like the Cabasse Antigua or Java columns should be preferred.

In summary, the main qualities of the Alcyone 3 speakers are:

An original and compact spherical design that fits into any interior
Robust construction and meticulous finishes
SCS technology from Cabasse high-end speakers for coherent and precise sound reproduction
A unique 10 cm coaxial speaker covering a wide frequency range
Astonishing acoustic performance given their size
Multiple placement options thanks to the magnetic base
An ideal pairing with the Lipari 21 subwoofer for a compact and powerful 5.1 home theater system
