Its friction-fit mounting system makes removal easy for maintenance or painting.

Transducers and sound signature

The 100 mm woofer uses a polypropylene cone mounted on a butyl rubber surround. This combination allows for a large excursion, resulting in surprisingly extended bass for a speaker of this size: frequency response goes down to 75 Hz at -3 dB. The 25 mm soft-dome tweeter, cooled by ferrofluid, ensures efficient heat dissipation during prolonged high-level operation.

The 90° coverage angle on both axes guarantees even dispersion, even off-axis. This characteristic makes placement easier in spaces where listeners are constantly moving. The 3 kHz crossover point ensures a smooth transition between the two drivers.

Integration with 70V and 100V systems

The built-in line transformer allows the PS-S43T to be connected to constant-voltage distribution systems, an architecture favored in large-scale commercial installations. A front-access selector offers several power settings: 30 W, 15 W, 7.5 W, and 3.8 W in 70V, or 30 W, 15 W, and 7.5 W in 100V. This flexibility makes it possible to adjust the sound level of each speaker individually without changing the wiring.

For smaller or residential installations, direct 8-ohm operation is still possible. The minimum impedance of 6 ohms ensures compatibility with most amplifiers on the market.

Installation made easy with the FastMount system

Sonance’s patented FastMount bracket is supplied with each speaker. This U-shaped mounting system enables wall, under-eave, corner, or pole mounting using optional U-bolts. The 180° articulation allows precise adjustment of the aiming toward the listening area, even after the bracket has been fixed.

The four-pin Euroblock connectors, accessible from the front, include a loop-through output for daisy-chaining multiple speakers without having to double up cables. A protective cover shields the connector and power selector, protecting them from the elements and accidental handling.

Certifications for regulated environments

UL 1480 and UL 2239 approvals, combined with NFPA 70 compliance, authorize integration of the PS-S43T into fire alarm and emergency signaling systems. This certification spares installers from having to request exemptions on projects subject to North American safety codes.
