4K TVs

4K, or Ultra HD, refers to a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels, or nearly 8.3 million dots on screen and four times more pixels than Full HD. On large screen sizes, this density keeps the image sharp even when sitting fairly close, without revealing the pixel structure. It is the current standard on most televisions, widely supported by streaming, Ultra HD discs and recent consoles. Resolution is not everything: with the same number of pixels, perceived quality depends above all on panel technology, HDR handling and image processing, which also upscales HD content to 4K. An HDMI 2.1 input enables 4K at 120 Hz for video gaming. 8K exists above it, but content filmed in this resolution remains rare.
