The only constraint is the need to use a dedicated power supply unit to generate the high voltage required for the electrostatic cell electrodes (or grids) in each earcup. Stax has therefore designed specific amplifiers for its headphones. The SRM-007t model that generally accompanies the SR-007 operates in pure class A using tube power stages.
The experience of listening to a Stax electrostatic headphone is always unforgettable, and the SR-007 is no exception to this rule. Its open structure offers exemplary neutrality and finesse to the sound reproduction. The sonic message is teeming with micro-details, and each source, each detail, each subtlety becomes tangible. The stereophonic space is also impressive in its precision and depth.
The SR-007 seems to disappear, giving way to an acoustic ambiance with stunning realism. Voices, among other things, benefit from a naturalness, a presence, and, more simply, a life that even the very best speakers on the market are unable to reproduce. The dynamics are also present. Here again, they offer an impressive depth to the sonic image.
Part of these qualities can probably be attributed to the SRM-007t amplifier. Its output tubes, operating in pure class A, driven by very low-noise Mos-Fet transistors, manage to combine presence, warmth, and dynamics in an exquisitely balanced blend.

This amp has excellent definition, and listening is very pleasant. It's not uncommon for me to spend hours listening to music without any discomfort or fatigue, which must be due to the use of class A tubes.
I would recommend letting it warm up for a few minutes to get the best out of this amp.
Very good product.

Excellent sound quality after a warm-up period of 45 minutes or more.
The rendering is even firmer and more detailed thanks to a Gigawatt power cable that replaces the original supplied cord.
