Overview

The RMC-1 is a state-of-the-art surround sound processor designed to serve as the nerve center of a home theater setup. The RMC-1’s switching system delivers the best picture quality to enjoy the latest 4K UHD HDR and Dolby Vision discs. The advanced audio decoding engine, audio processing, and room correction options ensure true audiophile-grade sound performance and quality. Unlike other surround sound processors, the RMC-1 is not only a superb preamp, but also a true audiophile stereo component.

When designing the RMC-1, Emotiva engineers had relatively high goals. Design a processor that supports the latest Dolby Atmos and DTS:X object-oriented surround sound formats, with many channels to meet the needs of the most demanding customers, combined with sound quality and performance superior to the best stereo equipment. Plus, it offers perfect picture quality compatible with the latest 4K UHD HDR and Dolby Vision video content. Finally, its setup and operation had to be relatively simple, so that everyone could take full advantage of its advanced performance and capabilities.

Designing a surround sound processor with all the features you need in a modern home theater system while delivering exceptional sound quality was a formidable challenge. Most AV receivers and processors offer many features but involve serious compromises in sound quality. And most audio equipment that offers true audiophile sound quality is limited to stereo and offers very few features. Emotiva’s plans called for a platform capable of delivering both.

To make this all possible, an entirely new hardware platform had to be developed, combining powerful new processor technology with meticulous analog circuit design to deliver the best possible audio performance. Running on this hardware platform, our proprietary operating system powers the menu system and all the advanced control logic. This new platform was first introduced to the public in the hugely popular XMC-1. The RMC-1 takes this technological innovation to the next level, with the latest 4K HDR and Dolby Vision UHD video switching capabilities, enhanced audio decoding and processing, the latest digital-to-analog conversion components, more channels, and even more slots for future expansion and upgrades. The RMC-1 represents the ultimate expression of this new design philosophy.

The XMC-1 eliminated many compromises and pushed the boundaries of what was possible for home theater and surround sound. The RMC-1 takes it to the next level and is the ideal way to start building a state-of-the-art home theater, surround sound, and audiophile stereo music system.

Perfect for home theater fans and audiophiles

The RMC-1 delivers the level of audio performance and features you expect from high-end audiophile components, combined with flawless video switching of the latest 4K UHD HDR and Dolby Vision video content, plus ample channels to support the latest object-oriented home theater surround sound formats (including Dolby Atmos up to 9.1.6 and DTS:X up to 7.1.4). The RMC-1 offers a wide range of audio options, from native DSD audio playback to pure analog playback in Reference Stereo audiophile mode, to full decoding of the latest 3D audio formats. With the RMC-1, you can truly have it all without compromise.

What the press says

The RMC-1 project smells of sweat and blood, a true Arlésienne that no one thought would ever see the light of day. I had already had the opportunity to briefly and pleasurably taste the XMC-1 a few years ago, but with the Emotiva RMC-1, the Tennesseans definitively enter the big leagues. It's not simply a matter of a home theater processor that redefines the notion of high-end, as the manufacturer's motto stipulates, and even less a question of reducing it to a "better for less" label, but of accepting that the RMC-1 delivers a genuine kick in the anthill, reaching an exceptional level of performance. A reference. Nothing less.
