The connector bodies and housings of the Furutech Pure Transmission FI-50 Piezo Ceramic series feature several revolutionary construction techniques. A multilayer shell of non-magnetic stainless steel and carbon fiber incorporates a special damping and insulating acetal copolymer. Furutech opted for stainless steel and carbon fiber for the outer housing after lengthy listening sessions with Japanese industry personalities and audiophiles.

The connector bodies combine two “active” materials: nanometer-sized ceramic particles and carbon powder. (Only nanometer-sized ceramic particles efficiently couple with carbon powder.) Nylon and fiberglass are also incorporated to form an extremely effective, well-damped, mechanically and electrically non-resonant connector body. That’s right, they are also electrically damped.

Piezoelectric effects are the key. Furutech’s breakthrough in design and materials relies on the use of nanometer-sized polycrystalline ferroelectric ceramic particles exhibiting electrogenerative properties; mechanical pressure creates an electrical charge forming a bridge between electrical and mechanical oscillation.

The carbon powder has thermal conductive characteristics that interact with the charged ferro-ceramic particles converting their energy into heat which is dissipated and released from the surface of the connector body!
