This collaboration brings the centuries-old expertise of instrument woodcraft to the world of headphones.

The selected flamed maple displays a unique structure where the wood fibers follow a wavy pattern perpendicular to the grain. This characteristic, known as “flame” in English, results from irregular tree growth creating areas of varying density. Each earcup thus features a unique flame pattern that will intensify over time and with exposure to light, giving each unit its own visual identity.

The construction uses a sophisticated technique: a thin slice of flamed maple is fused onto a base of machined solid maple. This approach combines the aesthetic appeal of figured wood with the structural stability required for consistent acoustic performance. Maple wood, dense and rigid, possesses acoustic properties highly sought after in luthiery: fast transient response, minimal coloration, and excellent propagation of high frequencies.

Applying DLC to the diaphragms achieves an optimal balance between response speed and internal resistance. The reduced mass of the diaphragm enables the rapid movements necessary for precise transient reproduction, while the rigidity of the material minimizes unwanted deformations. This combination results in particularly transparent reproduction in the mids and highs, with frequency extension reaching up to 50 kHz.

The A2DC connector adopts a coaxial structure where the male side’s annular section is segmented into spring-loaded tabs. This design ensures a more reliable connection by automatically compensating for manufacturing tolerances.
