ClearAudio Pack Concept Silver Edition (TP066KA)

This product is no longer available for sale!

Overview

Limited to 250 units, this pack brings together a Concept turntable in high-gloss white finish, a Satisfy Kardan tonearm with precision bearings, and an Artist v2 cartridge with an ebony body. The whole set comes preconfigured and ready to play, with tracking force and antiskating already adjusted at the factory. An offer that puts technologies normally reserved for the Bavarian brand’s higher-priced turntables within easy reach.

A redesigned chassis for this special edition

The Silver Edition finish stands out from standard Concept models thanks to its artificial stone top plate, combined with a technical coating that reinforces structural rigidity and adds a welcome extra mass. The white lacquered surround contrasts with the usual black or wood versions. Beneath this refined surface, the chassis retains its core of medium-density wood fiber set in an aluminum frame a multilayer construction designed to dissipate vibrations before they reach the groove.

The 30 mm transparent acrylic platter rests on a polished bronze axle, itself housed in a Teflon thrust bearing. Drive is via an internal flat belt, powered by a DC motor that is completely decoupled from the chassis through its stabilized external power supply. This mechanical isolation helps keep speed variation to within ± 0.04%, regardless of which of the three available speeds is selected (33, 45, and 78 revolutions per minute).

The Satisfy Kardan tonearm and watch-grade bearings

The Satisfy Kardan borrows mechanical solutions from the brand’s more expensive tonearms. Its vertical pivot relies on a polished tungsten shaft that runs in sapphire bearings the same type of bearings found in Swiss precision watchmaking. The two horizontal bearings, for their part, use a technical ceramic renowned for its hardness and durability.

Antiskating is provided by magnetic attraction, with a dual adjustment that allows fine-tuning of the compensation according to the cartridge used. A locking screw next to the pivot lets you secure the setting once it is dialed in. The aluminum headshell allows azimuth adjustment, and the graduated counterweight covers a range from 2.5 to 17 grams, opening the door to many MM or MC cartridges should you wish to upgrade later.

The Artist v2 cartridge and its ebony body

Positioned in the middle of Clearaudio’s MM v2 range (between the Performer and the Virtuoso), the Artist v2 benefits from a body carved from hand-polished ebony. This very dense wood helps control generator resonances, while its reinforced magnetic structure compared with the previous Aurum series delivers more assertive dynamics. The aluminum cantilever carries an elliptical diamond, a profile that offers a good compromise between detailed playback and tolerance of worn grooves.

With an output voltage of around 3.6 mV, the cartridge can be connected without difficulty to any standard MM phono input, loaded at 47 kΩ and 100 pF. The recommended tracking force of 2.2 grams allows a margin of ± 0.3 g to fine-tune behavior according to your preferences or the condition of your records. Channel separation of 24 dB at 1 kHz and channel balance better than 0.8 dB attest to the care taken in generator matching at the factory.

Simplified installation and setup

The set arrives pre-mounted and preadjusted. Simply place the turntable on a stable, level surface, connect the external power supply and the phono cable to a preamplifier, then start the motor via the speed selector. Switching between 33, 45, and 78 rpm requires no belt handling and is done directly from the switch integrated into the chassis.

The unit’s 10 kg weight and low height of 125 mm (tonearm included) allow it to fit into most hi-fi furniture, provided you allow enough clearance to handle the tonearm and records. The absence of a supplied dust cover leaves you free to add one later if your environment requires it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the turntable play 78 rpm records without additional accessories?

Yes, the speed selector includes a 78 rpm position. However, you will need a cartridge suited to the wider grooves of 78s if you intend to play them regularly; the elliptical stylus of the Artist v2 is primarily designed for 33 and 45 rpm microgroove records.

What type of phono preamplifier should I use with this setup?

Since the Artist v2 is a moving-magnet (MM) cartridge with a 3.6 mV output, it works with any phono preamplifier that has an MM input set to 47 kΩ impedance and a loading capacitance of around 100 pF. Built-in phono stages in hi-fi amplifiers are also suitable.

Can the cartridge be replaced with a model from another brand?

Yes, the Satisfy Kardan headshell accepts standard half-inch mounts. The counterweight range (2.5 to 17 g) allows the installation of MM or MC cartridges of various masses. Azimuth and tracking force will need to be readjusted when changing cartridges.

Is the phono cable replaceable?

The Direct Wire Plus wiring is integrated into the tonearm and cannot be removed without technical intervention. This design eliminates intermediate connections but means you must keep the original 1.1-meter cable. A quality extension can be added at the output if necessary.

How do I adjust the antiskating on the Satisfy Kardan?

The magnetic system is adjusted by rotating a dial located near the pivot, then locked using an accessible screw. The factory setting matches the Artist v2 cartridge; further adjustment may be useful if you change cartridges or notice uneven stylus wear.
