4K Laser Projectors

A 4K laser projector combines two advantages: Ultra HD resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels and a laser light source instead of a lamp. 4K delivers a sharp image on very large screen sizes, where pixel structure would remain visible in Full HD. The laser mainly changes the game in terms of light output and maintenance. It switches on and off without warm-up time, maintains stable brightness throughout its lifespan—around twenty thousand hours—and requires no lamp replacement. Laser models cover a wider colour gamut and deliver enough brightness to remain usable in a room that is not completely dark, provided a suitable screen is used. Resolution requires some nuance: many projectors display 4K through rapid pixel shifting from a lower-resolution chip, an effective technique at normal viewing distances but different from a native 4K panel, which is rarer and more expensive. The result also depends on contrast and HDR processing, not just the number of pixels. The final rendering ultimately depends as much on the screen and control of ambient light as on the projector itself.
