AudioQuest’s Flat Series speaker cable is built around a semi-solid concentric design. While not as transparent as AudioQuest’s solid-core conductors, the semi-solid wire is significantly more resolved than conventional twisted-bundle wire.
Long-Grain Copper: Long-Grain Copper (LGC) has fewer grain boundaries in the conductor than standard Oxygen-Free High Conductivity copper. Fewer internal junctions allow for exceptional clarity and naturalness.
Solid + Concentric Conductors: Solid conductors avoid two very common sources of distortion: impart contacts between strands and strands, and magnetic interactions between strands. However, if a conductor as large as Q2 were a single solid, not only would it be very rigid, but, due to the skin effect, it would also have a very artificial sound - like an auditory roller coaster. Q2’s Solid + Concentric Conductors comprise a perfect circle of 11 smaller LGC strands spiraled around a single larger LGC strand. The result is a flexible conductor with sound quality approaching that of an ideal solid conductor.
