Taga Harmony PF-1000LPS: The Filtered Power Strip for Your Audio-Video Setup
The Taga Harmony PF-1000LPS is much more than just a power strip. It incorporates a sophisticated power filter to eliminate electrical network interference, along with a linear power supply with selectable DC output voltage. This unique combination of technologies makes it an essential accessory for optimally powering a wide range of audio, video, and computer devices.
High-Performance Linear Power Supply to Enhance Your Sources
Most devices powered by direct current (DACs, phono preamps, etc.) come with basic low-end switching power supplies. These power supplies generate high-frequency noise that pollutes the power line and degrades sound quality. To address this issue, the PF-1000LPS is equipped with a high-performance linear power supply delivering ultra-stable and low-noise continuous voltage.
Based on a 100W isolated toroidal transformer and a dedicated filtering stage, this power supply can provide up to 3A at 24V. Six output voltages are available (5V, 9V, 12V, 15V, 19V, and 24V) with a choice of polarity, ensuring optimal compatibility with a wide range of devices. Connection is made via a high-quality OFC copper cable, with a choice of 10 different-sized DC tips. You can thus replace the mediocre original power supply of your sources and immediately enjoy a significant improvement in audio performance.
Charge Your Mobile Devices While Protecting Them
The PF-1000LPS features two USB-A ports delivering up to 2.1A at 5V, ideal for charging your smartphones, tablets, and portable players. These ports are directly powered by the integrated linear power supply and benefit from its high-performance filtering. Your devices are thus charged quickly while being perfectly isolated from power line pollution. A USB-C adapter is also included for connecting the latest devices.
Comprehensive Surge Protection
In addition to its active filtering, the PF-1000LPS includes a complete system for protection against surges and overloads. All outlets, including DC and USB outputs, benefit from multi-level protection:
- A main protection circuit with a resettable circuit breaker
- An isolation transformer
- A step-down voltage regulator
- A dedicated short-circuit and thermal overload protection circuit for DC and USB outputs
You can thus connect all your devices with peace of mind, without fearing damage from storm events or electrical installation faults.
Functional Design and Complete Connectivity
The PF-1000LPS stands out with its robust and functional design. Its steel casing with a brushed aluminum front panel integrates 8 Schuko-type power outlets (4 filtered and 4 direct), the DC power output, USB ports, as well as a voltage indicator and phase detector. The presence of an IEC C14 connector allows you to replace the standard power cord with a high-end audiophile model to further enhance performance.
What is the difference between the filtered and direct outlets of the PF-1000LPS?
The 4 filtered outlets benefit from the active filtering system of the PF-1000LPS and are designed to power sources and devices sensitive to electrical noise (DAC, preamp, network player, etc.). The 4 direct outlets are not filtered but have optimized wiring for high-consumption devices (power amplifier, subwoofer, etc.).
Can I replace my DAC’s power supply with the DC output of the PF-1000LPS?
Yes, provided your DAC is compatible with one of the offered voltages (5V, 9V, 12V, 15V, 19V, or 24V) and its consumption does not exceed 3A. You will also need to check the polarity and use one of the 10 supplied adapters. This operation will generally result in better audio performance than with the original power supply.
Does the filtering of the PF-1000LPS also work for video devices?
Absolutely. Mains filtering is beneficial for all components of an installation, both in audio and video. By connecting your TV or projector to a filtered outlet, you will achieve a purer and more detailed image, with deeper blacks and more accurate colors. Blu-ray players and media boxes will also benefit from a clean power supply.
Do the USB ports of the PF-1000LPS allow powering a USB DAC?
The USB ports of the PF-1000LPS are primarily intended for charging mobile devices. While they can technically power a USB DAC, the performance will generally not match that of a dedicated power supply like those offered by Taga Harmony. To get the best out of a USB DAC, we recommend using the DC output of the PF-1000LPS, provided the voltage is compatible.
Can the PF-1000LPS replace a UPS to protect my installation?
No. Although very comprehensive, the protection system of the PF-1000LPS does not offer the same functionalities as a UPS. It effectively protects against surges and overloads but does not have a battery to take over in case of a power outage. For optimal protection, it is ideal to use the PF-1000LPS behind a UPS.
What are the advantages of the PF-1000LPS compared to a standard power strip?
The PF-1000LPS is much more than a simple power strip. Thanks to its active filtering, it cleans the mains of interferences that degrade audio/video performance. Its high-performance linear power supply allows you to fully exploit the potential of your sources. Finally, its multi-level protection system keeps your devices safe from electrical issues. The result: enhanced sound and image, and increased longevity for your installation.
