Elipson Premium Sub: three subwoofers engineered for precision

September 19, 2025

Contents

Fiberglass replaces cellulose pulp, Class D amplification steps up, and the laminar baffle makes its debut. With its new Premium Sub lineup, Elipson is repositioning its subwoofers on more technical ground, moving on from the Prestige Facet series to three models with increasing dimensions: 10, 12, and 15 inches.

A diaphragm-focused approach

Choosing fiberglass for the diaphragms across all three models marks a clear technological shift. This composite material offers greater rigidity than traditional pulp, limiting unwanted deformation at high sound levels. Elipson leverages this characteristic to drive the amplification harder: 300 W for the 10-inch model, 500 W for the 12-inch, and 650 W for the 15-inch.

This power increase goes hand in hand with a reworked bass-reflex design. The internal laminar baffle, common to all three models, guides airflow through the front port to reduce turbulence. This technical solution aims to preserve low-frequency linearity even during the most demanding passages.

Three sizes for three use cases

The Premium Sub 10 adopts a compact format with dimensions of 360 × 380 × 430 mm. Its 25 cm driver covers a frequency range from 27 to 200 Hz, with a +3 dB DSP boost at 30 Hz to compensate for the physical limitation of the small enclosure. This model targets medium-sized rooms where footprint takes priority over extreme low-end extension.

The Premium Sub 12 sits in the middle with its 30 cm transducer and response down to 22 Hz. The 500 W amplification and boost at 28 Hz enable it to power more ambitious systems without sacrificing precision. It’s the sweet spot for most home setups.

The Premium Sub 15 takes the concept to its limit: a 38 cm driver, 650 W amplification, and response plunging to 19 Hz. This model is aimed at large rooms and home theater installations where raw power matters as much as finesse.

Integration first

Each subwoofer includes essential controls: variable crossover frequency, phase inversion, and LFE mode for multichannel systems. The internal DSP provides targeted corrections specific to each model, optimizing the response based on driver size.

The front-firing port makes placement near walls easier, unlike the down-firing designs of the previous Prestige Facet series. This practical orientation simplifies integration without compromising acoustic performance.

A firmly technical positioning

The Premium Sub range marks a break from the aesthetic approach of the Prestige Facet series, which emphasized faceted finishes and downward-facing ports. Elipson now prioritizes technical efficiency: rigid diaphragms, generous amplification, and DSP optimizations tailored to each model.

This evolution reflects growing demand for subwoofers capable of keeping pace with modern audio systems, whether hi-fi or home theater oriented. The three models cover a broad range of use cases—from compact urban living rooms to dedicated rooms—with technical consistency that makes it easier to choose according to available space and sonic ambitions.
