Audio Technica AT-ART9

This product is no longer available for sale!

Overview

The AT-ART9 cartridge uses the basic magnetic design of the AT50ANV, the “50th Anniversary” model. It delivers high-quality sound thanks to the vibration transmission system derived from the AT-OC9/III model.

Neodymium magnet and permendur structure, significantly increasing magnetic energy

The neodymium magnet has a maximum energy product (BHmax) of 50 [kJ/m3]; the structure is made of permendur, a material with a high saturation flux density, and uses other materials with excellent magnetic properties. As a result, the magnetic field concentrated on the coils is even higher.

Hybrid body, reducing unwanted parasitic resonances

The cartridge body is machined from aluminum and coated with hard plastic materials. Parasitic resonances are therefore better dispersed, resulting in improved sound clarity.

Solid machined aluminum base

The base on which the magnetic circuit and the moving assembly are mounted is machined from solid aluminum: its robustness ensures great reading stability.

Dual moving coil, extended frequency response and excellent channel separation

The basic structure of the cartridge is that of a classic moving coil type, with separate cylindrical coils for the left and right channels. Since the output voltage is generated independently on each channel, this structure ensures truly superior channel separation. If the signal from one channel is affected by the other, intermodulation distortion occurs, which has a marked impact on audio quality and stereo image width. The structure of this cartridge ensures a clear and smooth sound. In addition, the two moving coils have an inverted V-shape, reducing the moving masses “seen” by the stylus tip, which limits unnecessary coil movements and results in even lower distortion.

Special Line Contact stylus, 0.26 mm diameter boron cantilever

The stylus has a curvature of 40 µ x 7 µ (as on the AT50ANV) and a boron cantilever with a diameter of 0.26 mm, ensuring precise transfer of the musical signals engraved in the groove via the moving coils.
