Excellent product. A little expensive but justified by the build quality…

Manufactured in Erlangen by ClearAudio, this transparent acrylic cover fully encloses turntables from the Concept series without touching them. It is a removable lid that rests on the hi-fi rack or stand, different from traditional hinged covers that remain attached to the chassis. This approach eliminates any transmission of unwanted vibrations to the turntable during playback.
The acrylic used offers optical clarity that lets you view the turntable from every angle. ClearAudio chose this material for its rigidity and resistance to superficial scratches. The wall thickness provides enough stability so the cover does not vibrate when exposed to ambient low frequencies.
The edge profiling follows the lines of the Concept chassis, with slightly rounded corners that make it easier to handle. Two side notches, one on the left and one on the right, allow you to lift the cover with a simple motion. At the back, a cut-out lets signal cables and the power cord pass through without having to remove the cover for every connection.
Hinged covers transmit ambient vibrations to the turntable chassis, even when they are raised. Purists therefore prefer to remove them completely before each listening session, which quickly becomes tedious. The Concept Dust Cover solves this problem: it can be lifted off and put back in one second, without tools or complex handling.
Between listening sessions, it forms an effective barrier against household dust, pet hair, and accidental splashes. Dust particles that accumulate on the platter and stylus act like microscopic abrasives on the vinyl grooves. A well-fitted cover extends the lifespan of your records and phono cartridge.
This cover (reference AC174) fits ClearAudio Concept, Concept MM, Concept MC, Concept Signature, and Concept Edition 2024 turntables. The external dimensions of 450 × 380 × 157 mm match the footprint of these models precisely. The height of 157 mm provides enough clearance for the platter mat, the tonearm in its rest position, and the counterweight.
Owners of the Concept Active should opt for the AC120/active cover, which is slightly lower (147 mm) and adapted to the specific features of this model with built-in preamp.
Does this cover rest directly on the turntable or on the furniture?
It rests on the rack or stand, not on the turntable chassis. The cover encloses the turntable without touching it, preserving the mechanical isolation of the whole system.
Can I leave the cover in place during playback?
It is technically possible, but not recommended. Any rigid surface close to a sound source can generate unwanted resonances. ClearAudio recommends removing the cover before playing a record.
Does the acrylic turn yellow over time?
High-quality acrylic is quite resistant to yellowing, but prolonged exposure to UV (direct sunlight) can alter it over several years. Placing the turntable out of direct sunlight will preserve the cover’s transparency.
How can I clean the cover without scratching it?
A slightly damp microfiber cloth is enough for everyday dust. For more stubborn marks, ClearAudio offers an acrylic polishing compound (Acryl Glaspolitur) that removes micro-scratches and restores shine.
Is this cover suitable for other turntables of similar dimensions?
Non-ClearAudio turntables with similar dimensions may be compatible. You must check that the internal dimensions (around 442 × 372 × 143 mm) will fully enclose the turntable with enough clearance for cables and the tonearm.
