Each year, dozens of European journalists gather to select the best electronic products of the year. Awarded by a diverse and impartial jury, the EISA (Expert Imaging and Sound Association) awards recognize exceptional products for their performance, design, or ergonomics.
The Rotel Diamond Series DT-6000 DAC Transport celebrates 60 years of Rotel’s history and expertise, especially the performance, passion and values that symbolize the brand’s Japanese tradition. The DT-6000 supports coaxial, optical and PC-USB inputs, as well as a built-in CD player. It offers ultimate flexibility so you can play all your favorite sources while enjoying digital audio rendering with dynamic precision and authentic accuracy. The DT-6000’s critical digital-to-analog circuits use an 8-channel ESS Sabre ES9028PRO digital-to-analog converter that dedicates 4 channels to the left stereo outputs and 4 others to the right stereo outputs. The converter’s multi-channel processing provides unprecedented acoustic detail with extremely low background noise thanks to fully differential circuits for a full sound and total immersion in the sound stage.
Dedicated power supplies feed all the main circuits via an internally manufactured shielded toroidal transformer with low emission and high-efficiency slotted capacitors with optimized low specular reflection (ESR) providing ripple-free current. Printed circuit board physical isolation techniques and electronic decoupling design methods reduce residual noise and distortion in sensitive analog stages, including external DAC output filters.
The coaxial and optical inputs support PCM audio up to 24-bit/192kHz, while the asynchronous PC-USB input plays back high-resolution audio files up to 32-bit/384kHz. The PC-USB input also supports MQA audio and DSD 4X and is Roon Tested certified for optimal compatibility with Roon software.
The smooth-loading CD player leverages Rotel’s 30 years of experience designing and manufacturing award-winning turntables. The industrial design includes a spring-loaded floating CD mechanism and damping materials to reduce mechanical noise and vibration during playback. Precision motor controls and the optical laser sensor extract every nuance and acoustic detail from CD collections of any size.
Front panel controls and the backlit infrared remote control allow intuitive operation of the unit. The two-line display shows playback status, music file stream details, and CD metadata. RS232 inputs, 12V switch, and external remote control ensure simplified integration with all current control systems.

After several hours of listening, this player delivers a nuanced sound with a lot of detail. It is rare to find electronics capable of reproducing such faithful sound in the mid and high frequencies, and the result is truly astonishing (I mainly listen to classical music and jazz). Moreover, it was compared for fun with 3 players I also own, which are of a roughly equivalent range, including the DUE from Unison Research, the CDA 1050 from Magnat, and the CDP 8200 from Audiolab. For me, the DUE unquestionably takes first place; however, we are also in a different price range... while the DT 6000 follows quite closely... Of course, this opinion is only my humble one (Equipment connected to UR UNICO 90 amp / Xavian ORFEO speakers - Esprit cabling).
