The fourth model in iFi’s ZEN Air series is a phono stage ideal for vinyl record enthusiasts - whether returning to the format, as many have done in recent years, or discovering the joys of vinyl for the first time. Not everyone can afford to invest in a high-end turntable, but that’s okay, because an entry-level turntable from Pro-ject or Rega can deliver fabulous sound, especially when paired with a good phono stage to make the most of all the details the needle extracts from a record’s grooves.
This is where the ZEN Air Phono comes in: not only does it deliver excellent performance with both MM and MC cartridges, but it also offers ultra-low noise that is, measurably and audibly, the cleanest and clearest at this price point, just like its award-winning big brother, the ZEN Phono. The listener is thus assured of perceiving every detail in an ultra-quiet environment.
Like the other ZEN Air devices, the ZEN Air Phono simplifies the fully balanced circuit design of its main ZEN equivalent, but retains a symmetrical channel layout with high-quality surface-mounted components offering low equivalent series resistance (ESL), high stability, and low distortion. This pays off in terms of sound quality and accuracy of the RIAA equalization.
