This device is elegant. The screen is very bright and the overall finish is really well done.
I replaced the original power cord with a higher-quality model and it is connected:
- upstream to a WIIM Ultra via USB-C as well as a CD player via OPTICAL, and I also use BT for a SONORO Platinum EAS turntable in APTX HD—and occasionally for my laptop via USB-B (with driver download on Windows)
- downstream to a ROTEL RB-1552 MK2 power amplifier via XLR, which is itself connected to FOCAL Vestia N2 speakers.
So I use almost all the connection options of this device, and even though I’m not a “hardcore audiophile,” I have to say the sound quality is truly excellent and consistent regardless of the source.
For those wondering about connecting the Z8 directly to a power amplifier, I can confirm that this duo works wonderfully, and being able to select the volume step size from the Z8 menu (from 0.5dB to 3dB) allows for extremely comfortable adjustment with the remote control.
