Focal Theva N°3, a versatile column speaker

The Focal Theva N°3 is a 3-way bass-reflex column speaker that succeeds the Chora 826. It is equipped with Focal’s latest technologies such as an aluminum/magnesium tweeter and two Slatefiber woofers/midrange drivers, ensuring precise treble reproduction, balanced midrange, and powerful bass for hours of listening pleasure.

In addition to its sound performance, this speaker also stands out for its elegant design and versatility as a hi-fi or home theater component. For an even more immersive experience, dedicated tilted stands are available as an option, allowing the sound stage to be centered on the listener.

TNF Aluminum/Magnesium Tweeter

Focal has integrated two major advancements into the TNF aluminum/magnesium tweeter to improve its performance. First, the suspension connecting the dome to its support has been upgraded using an innovative material called Poron, which has shape memory. This suspension is directly derived from the famous Utopia Beryllium tweeter, and it significantly reduces distortion in the ear’s high sensitivity zone between 2000 Hz and 3000 Hz. In fact, this technology allows for a three-fold reduction in distortion.

Second, to improve the spatialization and directivity of the inverted dome, Focal has developed a waveguide. This technology considerably improves the tweeter’s directivity, which is significantly superior to that of the conventional positive dome used by competitors. Thanks to this technology, the frequency response is maintained within a range of only +/- 0.5 dB in the horizontal plane. This performance guarantees an incredibly stable sound stage that is less critical in terms of ideal listening position.

Slatefiber Cone

Slatefiber technology, a Focal exclusive made in France, involves using non-woven recycled carbon fibers sandwiched between two layers of thermoplastic polymer. In pursuit of perfection, Focal engineers have chosen to use non-woven carbon fibers all oriented in the same direction to achieve even greater rigidity, better damping, and lightness - the three “essentials” of a good speaker.

Design and Finishes

Focal has skillfully combined design and sound quality in its creations, magnifying the sound through meticulous finishes. The Theva line, available in three finishes - Black, Dark Wood, and Light Wood - enhances the speakers. The wood effect on the side panels, available in dark or light, adds warmth and harmoniously blends with other materials such as metal, concrete, or stone, while adapting to both classic and modern interiors. The black finish, on the other hand, brings a touch of timelessness and sophistication.

To offer an optimal listening experience, the cabinets have been redesigned for greater compactness, the front panels have been improved for perfect rendering and increased robustness. The speakers are surrounded by metallic and screen-printed rings, the port has been positioned at the rear for a sleek front panel, while the bases and grilles have been carefully selected for each model, creating a perfect harmony.
