TNF Aluminum/Magnesium Tweeter

Focal has incorporated two major innovations into the TNF aluminum/magnesium tweeter to enhance its performance. First, the suspension connecting the dome to its support has been improved using an innovative material called Poron, which has shape memory properties. This suspension is directly derived from the renowned Utopia Beryllium tweeter and significantly reduces distortion in the ear’s high-sensitivity range, between 2000 Hz and 3000 Hz. In fact, this technology achieves a threefold reduction in distortion.

Second, to improve the spatialization and directivity of the inverted dome, Focal has developed a waveguide. This technology greatly enhances the tweeter’s directivity, which is far superior to the conventional positive dome used by competitors. Thanks to this innovation, the frequency response is maintained within a margin of just +/- 0.5 dB on the horizontal plane. This performance ensures an incredibly stable soundstage and makes the listening position less critical.

Slatefiber Cone

The Slatefiber technology, exclusive to Focal and made in France, uses non-woven recycled carbon fibers sandwiched between two layers of thermoplastic polymer. In their pursuit of perfection, Focal engineers chose to use non-woven carbon fibers all oriented in the same direction to achieve greater rigidity, better damping, and lightness—three essential qualities for a high-performance speaker.
