I upgraded from the already amazing DMP-A6 G2 Master Edition, which I also purchased from HomeCineSolutions and had no problems whatsoever. The A8 is noticeably bigger than the A6 and uses AKM Velvet DAC chips as opposed to the A6 ESS DAC. It also has XLR in and out ports, which was the main reason for the upgrade. The sound, in my opinion is much to my liking than the A6 and can also be used as a Pre Amplifier (R2R volume control). A great product from Eversolo, arrived really quick and well packaged as always by HomeCineSolutions, thank you! ☺️

For now it’s great, except for the Deezer integration, which is so-so: you can’t “start a mix” from the built-in “Streaming” app, you absolutely have to install the Android version (download an apk, put it on a USB stick, install it on the streamer). It’s cumbersome, it duplicates the “Streaming” app, and control is done in screen-mirror mode from the phone. For the other streaming apps (Spotify, Qobuz, ...), I don’t know. Device has plenty of settings; I still need to set up the room correction (microphone required).

To begin with, I have to say that the perceived quality is definitely there. Then, having had issues with a competing network player that I sent back (Hifiman Serenade, a gas factory impossible to connect), the Eversolo does all the work. Fast, simple, and stable connection. Musically, I’d say it’s neutral, doesn’t color the sound, and respects the character of my speakers. There’s detail, transparency, and musicality. I prefer to use simple language to say that I’m satisfied and that I don’t want anything more. Given the price, that’s already a lot.
