Presentation of the Atoll CD100 Evolution CD Player

The Atoll Electronique CD100 Evolution Black is a high-end CD player designed to deliver sound reproduction with great precision and fidelity. Thanks to its superior quality components and meticulous design, it allows you to fully enjoy your favorite discs under the best conditions.

Elegant Design and Robust Construction

With its 4 mm thick brushed aluminum front panel, the CD100 Evolution boasts a sleek and elegant aesthetic that will seamlessly integrate into your hi-fi system. Its robust chassis and central CD mechanism, originally from TEAC, benefit from specific anti-vibration treatment, ensuring stable and precise disc playback.

Optimized Power Supply for High Signal Purity

The power supply of the CD100 Evolution has been carefully designed to provide stable and noise-free voltage to the various stages. It features 8 regulated power supplies, including a low-noise one dedicated to the digital/analog converter. A separate 10 VA transformer is dedicated to the analog stages. This design guarantees an optimal signal-to-noise ratio and high musical signal purity.

Symmetrical Output Stages with Discrete Components

To reproduce all the subtleties of your CDs with maximum precision and dynamics, the CD100 Evolution is equipped with symmetrical output stages with discrete components. Biased in class A, they ensure great linearity and excellent responsiveness. The direct current coupling, without coupling capacitors, preserves signal integrity. The current/voltage converters with bipolar transistors contribute to the quality of reproduction.

A High-Definition Burr-Brown PCM1796 Converter

At the heart of the CD100 Evolution is the renowned Burr-Brown PCM1796 24-bit/192 kHz digital/analog converter. Known for its performance, it ensures precise conversion of the digital signal to analog, with a wide bandwidth from 5 Hz to 20 kHz and an excellent signal-to-noise ratio of 123 dB. Distortion is kept at a very low level, below 0.001% at 1 kHz.

Compatible with a Wide Range of Discs and Formats

Versatile, the CD100 Evolution not only plays classic audio CDs but also CD-R and CD-RW. It is also compatible with major compressed audio file formats burned onto CDs like MP3, WMA, and AAC. You can thus enjoy your music collection without restriction.

Complete Digital Connectivity

In addition to its stereo analog output on RCA, the CD100 Evolution has two digital outputs, one coaxial and one optical, for connection to an external converter or DAC. A 12V trigger input is available to control its power-on from another Atoll device.

Optional Digital Input Card

For those who wish to use the CD100 Evolution as a converter with external digital sources, Atoll offers an optional digital input card. This includes a coaxial and an optical input accepting signals up to 24-bit/192 kHz, as well as a USB type B port. The latter, managed by an XMOS interface specifically developed for Atoll, operates in asynchronous mode and accepts PCM streams from 16 to 24 bits up to 192 kHz.

Low Power Consumption and Convenient Remote Control

Despite its performance, the CD100 Evolution is energy-efficient, consuming only 4 to 12 W in operation and less than 0.5 W in standby. Its low-power OLED display shows time and tracks, as well as CD-Text information. The included remote control, common to all Atoll devices, provides access to all essential functions such as programming, random play, or repeat.

What are the main differences between the CD100 Evolution and the CD80 model?

The CD100 Evolution stands out from the CD80 with several advancements, including a more generous power supply with a 30+10+1.6 VA transformer compared to 30+4.6+1.6 VA, a more efficient Burr-Brown PCM1796 24-bit/192 kHz DAC than the CD80’s PCM1791A, and a better signal-to-noise ratio of 124 dB versus 113 dB.

What are the advantages of the TEAC CD-5020B mechanism used in this player?

The latest generation TEAC CD-5020B mechanism ensures better reading quality and more precise data addressing. It also benefits from specific anti-vibration treatment for optimal stability.

Can the CD100 Evolution play burned CDs or MP3 files?

Yes, in addition to standard audio CDs, the CD100 Evolution is compatible with CD-R and CD-RW. It also plays major compressed audio file formats such as MP3, WMA, and AAC.

What are the connectivity options of the CD100 Evolution?

In addition to its stereo analog output on RCA, the CD100 Evolution has two digital outputs, coaxial and optical. A 12V trigger input is also present. Optionally, a digital input card can be installed, adding a coaxial input, an optical input, and a USB type B port operating in asynchronous mode.

Is the CD100 Evolution available in different finishes?

Yes, the CD100 Evolution is available in two finish options: brushed natural aluminum or black front panel. Both versions offer the same technical features and
