Unlike conventional MM and MC cartridges, where a heavy element (magnet or coil) must be moved with each stylus movement, MP technology uses a tiny piece of mu-metal called “permalloy” that moves within a magnetic field.

This innovation drastically reduces the moving mass of the playback system, allowing for a finer stylus to track the groove with extreme precision. The result combines the best of both worlds: the tracking accuracy and resolution of an MC cartridge, with the high output level and ease of use of an MM.
