Questyle LTC-02: Lightning to USB-C Cable
An iPhone and a portable DAC, but no common port to connect them. That’s the problem this 12.5 cm cable solves. The LTC-02 provides a link between Apple devices equipped with a Lightning port and digital-to-analog converters with a USB-C input, with lossless audio transmission. Questyle offers it as a dedicated accessory for its M12i and M15i DACs, which do not include a Lightning cable in the box.
A short cable for a specific reason
The 12.5 cm length may come as a surprise. It’s explained by the intended use: attaching a miniature DAC to the back of a smartphone, or slipping it into a pocket along with the phone. A longer cable would create unnecessary bulk and be more likely to tangle. The shorter length also helps reduce signal loss along the digital path.
The black braided sleeve encloses an oxygen-free copper conductor plated with silver, a classic choice in audio for its high conductivity. The aluminum foil (Al-Mylar) shielding protects the signal from electromagnetic interference, a sensitive point when the cable sits right next to a working smartphone.
MFi certification and compatibility
The LTC-02 carries Apple’s MFi (Made for iPhone/iPad/iPod) certification. This approval guarantees that the cable complies with Apple’s specifications for power consumption and communication protocol. A non-certified cable may work, but can cause recognition or stability issues with certain versions of iOS.
Compatibility covers all Apple devices equipped with a Lightning port: iPhones up to the 14 generation, and the relevant iPad and iPod models. The move to USB-C on the iPhone 15 and later makes this cable obsolete for those models, which use a direct USB-C to USB-C cable.
Which DACs can you use it with?
Questyle designed the LTC-02 as a complement to its own portable DACs. The M12i and M15i come with a USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-A adapter, but no Lightning cable. The LTC-02 fills this gap.
The cable works with any DAC or amplifier featuring a USB-C input, not just Questyle products. One clarification: it is not compatible with the older M12 model (without the “i” suffix), which does not have MFi certification.
What the cable does not do
The LTC-02 carries a digital audio signal. It does not contain a built-in DAC chip and cannot drive headphones directly. You need a converter on the other end to transform the digital stream into an audible analog signal. It is also not a charging cable: its function is strictly audio.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the LTC-02 work with all iPhones?
It works with iPhones equipped with a Lightning port, i.e. models up to the iPhone 14. The iPhone 15 and later use USB-C and do not require this type of adapter.
Can I use this cable with a DAC from another brand?
Yes, the LTC-02 is compatible with any audio device with a USB-C input. The MFi certification applies to the Apple side of the cable, not to the connected DAC.
Why isn’t this cable included with the M12i and M15i DACs?
Questyle’s “i” series DACs come with USB-C and USB-A cables to cover the majority of Android, Windows, and Mac devices. The Lightning cable remains optional because not all users have an Apple device with this connector.
Does the cable support high-resolution audio?
Yes, lossless transmission allows audio streams up to PCM 768 kHz/32-bit or DSD512 to pass through, depending on the capabilities of the DAC used. The cable does not limit the resolution.
Does the cable work with the iPad?
Yes, with iPad models equipped with a Lightning port. Recent iPads with USB-C do not need this cable.
