The Smart Sounddeck 100 builds on the proven format of Canton’s older DM 100 and DM 101 models, those sound platforms on which you place the TV directly, but adds the full set of connected features from the Smart range: integrated Chromecast, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, multiroom compatibility, and above all HDMI inputs with Dolby Atmos support.

Ten speakers under a glass plate

The chassis houses a 300-watt, three-way bass-reflex system powered by ten drivers. Two 19 mm textile dome tweeters sit on the front panel alongside four 50 mm aluminum midrange drivers, arranged in a D’Appolito configuration (a tweeter flanked by two midrange drivers on each side). The four 100 mm woofers, also with aluminum cones, are mounted under the chassis and fire downward, supported by rear-facing passive radiators for extended low-frequency response.

The specified frequency response goes down to 25 Hz and up to 30 kHz. Without an external subwoofer, the Sounddeck delivers present, controlled bass, sufficient for most TV listening situations. Adding a Canton Smart Sub 8 or Smart Sub 10 subwoofer remains an option for those who want more low-end impact.

The top surface is covered with a black glass plate that is resistant to scratches. Canton does not provide an official maximum load rating, but real-world tests confirm that it can easily support large-screen TVs.

HDMI connectivity and home theater formats

Four HDMI ports are provided on the rear panel: three inputs and one eARC-compatible output. These connections accept 4K/60p signals with HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG. On the audio side, Dolby Atmos and DTS HD decoding is built in. The Sounddeck does not feature up-firing speakers, so vertical spatialization relies on virtual surround processing.

This virtualization works via DSP processing of Atmos signals. Height and immersion effects are noticeable in the main listening area, but diminish significantly as you move away from the central axis.

In addition to HDMI, there is a Toslink optical input, a digital coaxial input, analog inputs on RCA connectors, and a subwoofer output. An Ethernet port is also available for a wired network connection.

Audio streaming and multiroom ecosystem

The built-in Chromecast gives access to more than 200 compatible streaming services via the Google Home app. AirPlay 2 allows streaming from Apple devices, and Spotify Connect enables direct control from the Spotify app. Three memory presets are available to store favorite playlists, accessible at the press of a button on the remote control.

The Smart Sounddeck 100 integrates into the Canton Smart ecosystem for multiroom playback. It can also serve as the hub of a wireless home theater system: up to seven additional Smart speakers can be connected, such as Smart Soundbox 3 units as rear surround speakers or a Smart Sub subwoofer.

Voice control is handled by external assistants (Google Assistant, Siri) since the Sounddeck has no built-in microphone.

Setup and acoustic adjustments

All settings are accessible via an on-screen menu on the TV. Calibration is not automatic: the user manually adjusts listening distance, level of each channel, bass, midrange and treble corrections, as well as lip sync.

Three equalization presets match common installation scenarios: Sounddeck placed on a piece of furniture with the TV wall-mounted above it (EQ1), TV placed directly on the Sounddeck (EQ2), or Sounddeck integrated into a cabinet (EQ3). A voice enhancement mode improves dialogue intelligibility.

The Sounddeck can learn the infrared codes of the TV remote, allowing you to control volume and sources with a single remote. An auto-standby function switches the unit off after about 30 seconds with no signal.
