Overview
Since the 1970s, the GLE series has been part of Canton’s history. This German line has been built on a balance between sound quality and affordability. With the GLE 10 S2, the Weilrod-based manufacturer updates its on-wall model by integrating advances developed for its higher-end Vento and Reference ranges. The result is a discreet speaker just 9 cm deep, able to hang on the wall without encroaching on living space.
A thoroughly redesigned S2 generation
The move to the S2 generation is more than a cosmetic change. Canton has reworked the drivers, the tweeter system, and the crossover tuning. The 154 mm mid-bass driver features an ATB (Aluminium Titan Black) cone, an evolution of the titanium cones used in previous models. This diaphragm combines lightness and rigidity thanks to a matte black surface treatment, visible through the removable fabric grille.
The 25 mm tweeter is also upgraded to an AB (Aluminium Black) version with an enlarged waveguide. This modification widens high-frequency dispersion, which is useful when the speaker is mounted high up or off-axis in relation to the listening position. The frequency response extends up to 40,000 Hz, well beyond the audible range, contributing to the reproduction of harmonics and to a more airy soundstage.
Sealed acoustic design
Canton has opted for a sealed acoustic design, with no bass-reflex port. This technical choice directly influences low-frequency behaviour. A sealed cabinet generally delivers faster transients and tighter bass, but requires more amplifier power to reach high sound pressure levels. With a sensitivity of 86 dB and an impedance of 4 to 8 ohms, the GLE 10 S2 remains compatible with most hi-fi and home theater amplifiers on the market.
The frequency response starts at 45 Hz, which is sufficient for balanced music listening or for handling surround effects in a multichannel system. For movies with strong infrabass content or for electronic music, pairing with a subwoofer is still recommended.
A format designed for easy integration
Measuring 17 × 30 × 9 cm, the GLE 10 S2 blends into a living room without drawing attention. The integrated wall mount simplifies installation: the speaker is fixed directly to the wall without the need for an additional bracket. The satin front panel and magnetic oval fabric grille further enhance its visual discretion.
Three finishes are available. “Black Decor” and “White Decor” feature a matching lacquered front, while “Makassar Decor” combines a wood pattern with a black front. The fabric grille comes in black or white depending on the chosen variant.
Usage configurations
In stereo, a pair of GLE 10 S2 speakers can equip a study, a bedroom, or a small to medium-sized living room. The soundstage remains coherent even off-axis thanks to the tweeter waveguide. In a home theater system, these speakers are ideal as rear or side surround channels. The sealed enclosure avoids air turbulence at low frequencies, an advantage during action scenes where effects follow one another rapidly.
Canton also offers the GLE 10 Pro S2, a variant equipped with a universal swivel bracket that allows ceiling mounting as well as wall mounting. Integration into a multichannel system
The GLE S2 series includes floorstanding speakers, bookshelf models, a center speaker, and subwoofers. The GLE 10 S2 can be used as a surround speaker alongside GLE 70, 80, or 90 S2 front speakers, with a GLE 50 S2 center. This lineup coherence ensures consistent tonal balance across all channels. The ATB and AB drivers are used throughout the series, making tonal matching between the various speakers easier.

Yes. Although designed for wall mounting, the speaker can be placed horizontally or vertically on furniture using the supplied feet. The integrated mount does not interfere with this use.
