These dedicated stands, designed by Mofi to accompany its bookshelf speakers, match the cabinet’s exact dimensions and address a very practical issue: providing a rigid base for a speaker whose size and weight are outside usual standards.

A four-column steel construction

The structure is built around four steel columns connected to two plates of different dimensions and thicknesses. The top plate measures 25.6 × 25.6 cm with a thickness of 3 mm; the base plate, wider and thicker, measures 35.6 × 38.1 cm with a thickness of 9.5 mm. This proportion between the two helps lower the center of gravity of the speaker-stand assembly and prevent any risk of tipping, an important point not to overlook with a speaker as substantial as the SourcePoint 10.

The hollow columns can be filled with sand, shot, or any other damping material to increase mass and reduce resonances in the structure itself. This is a common method on high-end hi-fi stands, and the difference in listening between empty columns and weighted columns is often noticeable, especially in the lower end of the spectrum.

Well-thought-out interface accessories

Each pair comes with a complete set of interface accessories: spikes, protective discs, neoprene pads, and felt pads. The choice between these options depends on the type of flooring. Spikes, screwed under the base, pierce through carpet to rest on the hard floor underneath and create direct mechanical coupling. On wood floors, tile, or any hard surface, the felt or neoprene pads protect the covering while providing decoupling that limits the transmission of vibrations to the floor. The protective discs are placed under the spikes to prevent marking delicate surfaces.

Between the top plate and the underside of the speaker, the neoprene pads serve a similar role: they absorb micro-vibrations from the cabinet and prevent slipping. The 25.6 × 25.6 cm plate matches the dimensions of the SourcePoint 10 base; the speaker stays in place without overhang or play.

What a good speaker stand changes

Placing a bookshelf speaker on a piece of furniture, a shelf, or an unsuitable stand affects performance in several ways. The furniture vibrates sympathetically with the cabinet, which colors the sound and blurs bass definition. The listening height is rarely correct: the tweeter ends up too low or too high relative to the ears, which alters the perceived tonal balance and degrades stereo image precision.

With a total height of around 51 cm (without spikes), these stands position the acoustic center of the SourcePoint 10 at a height that is appropriate for listening in a standard seated position. The bass becomes more precise because the cabinet no longer transfers its energy to a resonant surface. The stereo image becomes more stable and wider, and spatial details become easier to discern.
