Overview
Placing compact speakers flat on a desk means accepting an often underestimated acoustic compromise. The reflective surface of the desktop sends part of the sound back toward the listener with a very slight delay, blurring details and coloring the sound reproduction. Kanto’s SU2 addresses this specific problem with an original approach: a steel stand that attaches to the rear of Ora and Uki speakers, lifting them off the desk while creating a visual suspension effect.
Rear mounting that keeps cable access clear
Where most desktop stands slide under the speaker or cradle it in a bracket, the SU2 uses a rear attachment principle. A 1/4”-20 screw (included) fits into the threaded insert provided for this purpose on the back of the Ora and Uki. The speaker then rests on the stand with its weight supported against the steel structure, which frees up the front and, above all, leaves full access to the rear connections. Plugging in a USB-C cable, an RCA cable, or connecting a subwoofer requires no manipulation of the stand.
This type of mounting has an appealing side effect: the speaker appears to float above the desk. The visual result is clean, minimalist, and the cables disappear behind the structure.
Thirteen degrees of tilt, and why it matters
The SU2 tilts the speaker upward by 13°. This is not a randomly chosen angle. On a standard desk, the seated position places the ears well above the level of the speakers. The silk dome tweeters in the Ora and Uki (3/4 inch) disperse treble directionally: when the tweeter axis is not pointed toward the listener, high frequencies lose precision and energy. The 13° tilt brings the dispersion axis back to ear level in a typical desk setup, for more linear listening and better-defined stereo imaging.
The other benefit of this elevation is acoustic. By raising the speaker several centimeters, the SU2 increases the distance between the driver and the desk surface. Early reflections (that bounce of sound off the desktop that reaches the ear with a delay of a few milliseconds) are reduced. The result: less comb filtering, cleaner mids.
Steel and silicone, nothing superfluous
The construction is simple and robust. Each stand is made of solid steel with a powder-coated finish (available in black or white). The weight of 500 g per stand ensures a stable footing on the desk. Silicone pads are integrated into the base: they damp vibrations to prevent driver resonances from being transmitted to the desktop, maintain grip on the desk surface, and protect against scratches.
The whole set is compact (8.4 × 14.3 × 16.5 cm per stand) and each unit supports a maximum load of 1.4 kg. The Uki weigh between 0.9 and 1 kg depending on the model (passive or active), and the Ora are in a similar range: the margin is comfortable.
Compatibility: a deliberately niche product
The SU2 only works with Kanto Ora and Kanto Uki speakers. This is a deliberate choice: the 1/4”-20 rear thread and the stand geometry are calibrated for these two models. It cannot be used with other speakers in the Kanto range (the YU2, YU4, or REN, for example, do not have the same mounting point) or with speakers from other brands. This specialization has its advantages: the fit is precise, with no play or adapter, and the tilt angle matches the format of these compact speakers.
For YU2 owners, Kanto offers the S2, a 16° angled stand on which the speaker rests by gravity. The SU2 is a different kind of product, with its mechanical attachment that secures the speaker to the stand.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the SU2 compatible with speakers other than the Ora and Uki?
No. The rear 1/4”-20 screw attachment and the shape of the stand are designed exclusively for the Kanto Ora and Kanto Uki. Other speakers equipped with a 1/4”-20 thread will not fit properly due to the stand’s specific geometry.
Do the rear speaker connections remain accessible once the stand is installed?
Yes. The rear mounting is designed to leave the inputs (USB-C, RCA, subwoofer output) completely unobstructed. No cable gets trapped between the speaker and the stand.
Can the tilt angle be adjusted?
No, the tilt is fixed at 13° upward. This angle is not adjustable. It is intended for use while seated behind a standard-height desk (approximately 72-75 cm).
